Welcome to the new 5 track EP entitled Round Here by Born On Road core member and badboy DJ Selecta J-Man. His last outing on the label, The Dancehall Extravaganza EP, received heavy rotation everywhere from Tokyo to Tijuana so it is safe to say there is eager anticipation surrounding this next exciting project.

Title track Round Here, voiced by the understated, underground artist Rider Shafique, effectively takes a rinsing Jungle sound and employs Drum & Bass discipline to produce a New School Jungle sound, as raw as it is tight. Round Here is the edgy, Ragga-tinged dancefloor destroyer that will keep you drawing for it again and again.

Taking the title track up another level is a world class music video from Bing Bong films that draws on some key emotions expressed in Round Here by transporting the viewer into a paranoid world of inner city life. This is not for the feint hearted but is certainly one for a big screen with a loud sound system.

Each of the other 4 tracks on the EP make their own bold statement and have their own individual draw. The Rodigan laced roller ‘Cuss Cuss’, the classic Funk hook of ‘Worldwide’, the moody and tearing ‘Bruk Out’, and finally the collaboration with FLeCK on an old school Jump up sound called ‘Drum Song’; they’re all soundboy killers and there’s definitely and defiantly no fillers.

Guzi is landing on Sub-Liminal Recordings once again this week with a sophisticated and incredibly fun release, one which, if you hear out live, is certain to get you moving. There's a carelessness and a freedom to these tracks and it creates a tangible sense of kinetic movement. The title track kicks things off in style and it's 'Area 51' that really takes the cake, a winding, subby track that flips between roughshod amen junglist work and a more rolling, stripped back tip, including powerful, punchy basses all the way. It's a wicked track and definitely the highlight of the release. 'I Can't' feat. Zoner is another absolute banger but one that's deep and wispy in all the right ways, as stuttering drum lines perforate over monochromatic bassline injections. Sick!

Gray has been making waves at Born On Road HQ since our 1st slightly bizarre meeting with him in a field in Winchester at a popular music festival in 2018. Though his roots run a lot deeper. He cut his teeth though the free party scene in his hometown of London proving he has the minerals whist effortlessly mixing between styles.

Since moving to Bristol he has fully submerged himself into the circuit growing ever popular amongst ravers who have taken to joining in with the infectious vocals of his newly acclaimed anthem ‘Rubadub’, just one of the tunes off this heavyweight EP that has been doing major damage over the summer and is already turning the heads of some of the big players in the scene and it’s sub genres!

Gray has also enrolled the talents of two veterans of the scene, The Ragga Twins drop the lead line on Blood, a hard hitting bass heavy tune.

This EP is rammed packed full of goodness and comes with our certified Born On Road dance floor seal of approval, we are super hyped to welcome Gray as a member of our ever expanding family and we all look forward to working with him more in the future. But for now we’ll let the music do the talking…
