Already a true renegade himself by establishing and curating his own label ‘Vanila’ as well as the 'Agia Varvara Originals' sub-label the athenian artist has released monumental records that sets him apart from anyone else in the scene.

“I have never hide the fact that ANFS is one my favourite electronic music artists of all time. 
I believe that his sound is extremely singular and i am sure that time will prove me right. 
I was waiting eagerly for the right moment to have him in the series and finally this time has come. 
He has provided a 2 hours long mix to masterfully present his ever involving sound - a sound that it is still uniquely his own but at the same time it has moved to exciting new directions.

𝙑𝙀𝙎𝙀𝙇𝙆𝘼 𝙋𝙊𝘿𝘾𝘼𝙎𝙏 081 | 𝙎𝙌𝙐𝘼𝙍𝙄𝘾

SQUARIC - heading from Buenos Aires, Barcelona-based DJ, producer and Diffuse Reality label head. In 2007 he organized his first rave in an abandoned gas station. He loves to create and play with different moods and atmospheres, feeling the energy of the crowd, which is the fundamental element to complete his work. Squaric's sets are filled with powerful and energetic sounds, supported by a well-developed technique, which led him to quickly gain a reputation for mixing a wide range of genres in his sets, from techno and electro to more experimental electronica and IDM.

𝙑𝙎𝙇𝙆: How was your first DJ gig?
𝙎𝙌𝙐𝘼𝙍𝙄𝘾: It was a gathering between friends that went on for hours and hours. I really enjoyed playing for people. Even though everything was new, I felt like it was where I belonged. It pushed me to learn more about DJing and producing—it was an instant connection, something I started that will last forever.

𝙑𝙎𝙇𝙆: Music - fun, joy, job, or vocation?
𝙎𝙌𝙐𝘼𝙍𝙄𝘾: For me, music is everything. It plays a role in all aspects of my life. I wake up thinking about music, and I go to sleep thinking about it. I’ve always felt attracted to music, even as a child. I remember my grandfather listening to his vinyl records of Tango and Folklore. I would be mesmerized by the turntable and the spinning vinyl. It was amazing to me how a record could reproduce music.

Music is definitely a calling. It’s where I feel safest and a way to connect with the people I love.

𝙑𝙎𝙇𝙆: What about genre fluidity? How strict are your sets?
𝙎𝙌𝙐𝘼𝙍𝙄𝘾: I consider myself very versatile when I play. While my main focus is Techno, as it’s the genre I feel most represented by, I enjoy incorporating different styles depending on the event and the vibe of the crowd. Sometimes I mix in House, Electro, Trance, or Breakbeats and find my way back to Techno.

It really depends on the space and time. I’m a big fan of music in general, so it’s exciting to experiment and blend genres.

𝙑𝙎𝙇𝙆: Clubs in 2007 vs. Clubs in 2024 - what are the main differences?
𝙎𝙌𝙐𝘼𝙍𝙄𝘾: Technology.

𝙑𝙎𝙇𝙆: What should 2025 bring for you?
𝙎𝙌𝙐𝘼𝙍𝙄𝘾: More love, more creativity, and above all, continued unique experiences connecting with people.

Since 2024, he has been performing a live project built on a sequence of loops, designed to create a hypnotic and immersive atmosphere. With each set, Derrik seeks to engage listeners in a continuous flow, weaving layered beats and evolving atmospheric sounds that resonate with the energy of the space, responding intuitively to its rhythm.
