In a momentous occasion for football in Ireland, the "Yup Girls" project proudly announces the digital release of an inspiring compilation album, celebrating the National Women's football team's historic achievement of qualifying for the World Cup for the first time ever, and Ireland’s first World Cup since 2002. This remarkable milestone follows their relentless pursuit of equal pay and better conditions. The project showcases a diverse range of genres including dance, chants, punk, and more, capturing the spirit and passion for the team and for football as a unifying sport.

Following the surge of media attention on songs chanted in a dressing room just after the momentous defeat of Scotland to secure the team their first ever World Cup, we have a compilation album full of songs for everyone to dance to throughout the World Cup. The focus should always be on the football, but here’s some anthems to celebrate with!

The "Yup Girls" project brings together artists associated with two organisations: 1815 F.C. and ddr. 1815 F.C. is a dynamic, community-led DIY mixed football club, known for their dedication and love for the game. They meet every Wednesday and Sunday to play on free public access football pitches across Dublin city and Ireland, fostering an anti-establishment, vibrant and inclusive football culture.

Likewise ddr. is a community-based radio station that has been a constant source of support for local artists and initiatives. They have a history of collaboration with 1815 F.C., having previously broadcast commentary from matches as well as post-match interviews and DJ sessions.

The "Yup Girls" compilation serves as a tribute to the indomitable spirit of the Irish team, whose journey towards achieving gender equality and recognition has been an inspiration to many around the world, and whose footballing prowess has been an inspiration to so many at home. Each track on the album reflects the passion, strength, and determination of these remarkable athletes and their supporters.

The "Yup Girls" album promises an exhilarating and eclectic musical experience, showcasing the diverse talents of artists from various genres. By now if you’re a fan of underground bass music you’re probably familiar with the Nervous Horizon back catalogue. Just last year the likes of label honcho TSVI, Da Soul Boyz and Marcus Nasty released via the imprint, each sharing a unique slice of dancefloor ammunition with the world and indeed the clubs.

Now, the label has lined up six “hard hitting, hi-impact club tracks” from Melbourne-based producer DJ Plead. Inspired by his Lebanese heritage, ‘Pleats Plead’ merges motifs from Lebanese pop and even traditional wedding music with new gen bass sounds spanning hard drum, mutated r‘n’b and more. 

Today we’re premiering exuberant EP closer ‘Crush and Burn’ – think breakneck drum work, subtle pad atmospherics and a slew of colourful samples.
