Nigel McCarthy singer songwriter/guitarist and Slava Tikhonov harp/guitar are from Sydney. Nigel is a well travelled musician and writes stories and tales about people and places with some spicy guitar work in between. Nigel lived in New Orleans for many years and became a refugee after hurricane Katrina devastated the city. “My music reflects what went on in that city, blues, zydeco, old fashion swing and folk, Slava plays one mean Harp and we came together to form Slagel”. 
Slava also lived in US for a while, in Los Angeles, where he got inspired by the new generation of blues Harp players like Mitch Kashmar, Tom Ball, Kim Wilson. This added new spice to his long-standing love affair with blues and he seriously picked up harmonica. “Blues and folk are the pure form of music: every time we play the same songs may come out different depending on our mood, the audience, the weather and what not. It’s all created right there in the moment and Nigel and I get the ultimate delight from the process.”
