Stepping up with the hypnotic, heavy-duty wares all set at knocking your senses askew, Belgian producer Peter Van Hoesen lands us a monster of a live set. Responsible for some seriously mind-expanding sorties on the likes of Tresor, Vlek and his self-operated outlets Time To Express & Center 91 over the past 15 years, Van Hoesen has established himself as one of the scene’s driving forces when it comes to integrating these cinematic ambiences into an effervescing mesh of pulsating 4x4 rhythms and a millefeuille of layered envelopes acting like quicksands. Recorded on the occasion of his latest live performance at Tresor Berlin on May 10, this particular live harnesses that deep-diving energy elemental to Van Hoesen’s intricate engineering of hi-velocity dynamics and rippling dub interplays, ushering us headlong into a bright, merciless furnace of sound. For our One Year celebration at ://aboutblank in Berlin in May 2017, he held us spellbound under the glow of the late-spring sun with this luminescent mix of colours, textures, and sounds.

We are very excited to present the live recording of this set as the latest installation in our mix series.

1990년대 초, 일본을 강타한 새로운 사운드 - 테크노 음악은, Takaaki Itoh가 이전까지 들어보지 못했던 새로운 비트들과 함께 새로운 일본 언더그라운드 뮤직씬을 열기 시작하였다. Takaaki는 빠르게 이 새로운 사운드에 중독되기 시작하였으며, 1994년부터는 그의 고향인 북일본 지역에서 스스로 테크노 파티를 만들며 빠르게 자신의 이름을 알려나가기 시작했다. 1996년, 자신만의 사운드를 트랙으로 만들기로 결심하면서 발표한 Takaaki Itoh의 순수한 언더그라운드 테크노 음악은, 이전까지 유럽에서 들어보지 못했던 새로운 스타일의 일본 언더그라운드 테크노로 각인되기 시작하였고, 그는 곧 일본 전역과 유럽에서 큰 사랑을 받기 시작하며 가장 존경받는 일본 언더그라운드 디제이로 인식되기 시작했다. 2001년, 유럽으로 활동무대를 옮긴 Takaaki는 Berghain, Tresor와 같은 대형 테크노 클럽들과 Awakenings페스티벌 같은 무대에서 플레이하며 전 세계 프로모터들과 파티피플들의 큰 사랑을 받기 시작했다. 이후 자신의 레이블 Wols를 시작하며 한 단계 더 앞으로 나아간 Takaaki Itoh는, 현재 새로운 테크노 세대의 선두주자로서 일본과 유럽을 오가며 활발한 활동들을 보이고 있다.

Techno hit Japan hard in the early 1990s.Takaaki Itoh was quickly impressed and intrigued with this new sound. The unique style of beats revealed the gateway to a new world of underground music in Japan - something he had never heard before. 
in 1994,Takaaki began to organize his own techno parties in his home of northern Japan. By providing a fantastic lineup, his parties quickly became a success.
In 1996, having decided that it was time to start making his own tracks, His Japanese style of techno was pure, unique and underground - nothing that had been heard before in Europe. His reputation and popularity quickly spread all over the continent. He was becoming recognized as Japan's most underground and respected techno DJ. As of 2001 he was getting offers to perform at large clubs and festivals all over Europe, like awakenings,berghain,tresor. Promoters wanting him, party people loving him, Takaaki Itoh took the next step and started his own label Wols. Passion led to success and he became recognized as the top of the next generation of techno music.

Slam (aka Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle) are a tour de force on the global techno circuit. Their unique, six deck, back-to-back DJ performances have seen the duo play leading clubs and festivals across the world. They are renowned for both their experience and their powerful, contemporary sound. 

They are co-owners of Glasgow's Riverside Festival, and also host the legendary Maximum Pressure warehouse parties, which showcase the best emerging local talent alongside some of the most established names in international techno.

Their iconic Soma Records label boasts in excess of 600 releases, hosting Mcmillan and Meikle's own productions and many of today's most cutting-edge techno artists.

The last few years have seen some of the duo's most prolific studio output as they continue to innovate and keep things moving forward, most recently with the release of their experimental full length record Athenæum 101. In addition, Slam have also remixed tracks from the likes of Planetary Assault Systems, Clouds, Dax J, Damon Wild, Richie Hawtin, and Truncate, to name just a few. 

Slam also host one of Techno's most respected weekly podcasts, Slam Radio, which has now surpassed over 400 episodes. The show allows the duo to demonstrate their conviction to creating and promoting music and vibes that provide an antidote to the mainstream by inviting fellow artists from the vibrant Techno scene, from obscure names to current trailblazers.
