We are thrilled to share a 90-minute excerpt of this exceptional set from 2021 that will always remain one of the most legendary moments on our dancefloor...

LA has always had and has a special place in my heart. So many amazing memories. Been playing there since the late 90’s. In 2009 I played for the first time for “Interface” (now @Observe) and it happened to be the first time that I met Moe Espinosa aka @drumcell who since is one of my best friends. That first party was quite something, as I forgot one of my bags with my sound interfaces in the hotel and Moe had to drive me back to the hotel (a 45min drive.. well yeah, that is LA) and during the drive we got to talk a little and I asked him if this parties he is doing never get busted as they are mostly illegal in downtown LAs warehouse district. He told me “never”. Next thing that happened was that he got a phone call with me in the car driving and someone told him that the fire marshalls just showed up and busted the event. He as the promoter of the event couldn’t be there as he was driving the idiot who forgot his bag in the hotel. To make a long story short, he and his crew organised a new warehouse nearby and I ended up playing till the morning. I recently posted about it, so go back on my Instagram and you see a little video how all this went down.
This time it was the 20 year anniversary. I managed to not forget my bags, but when I entered the event space, I saw a police helicopter hovering above me with a spotlight shining right at me. Luckily it turned out they weren’t interested in our party, so this time no location change was needed and we had a blast. I am so honoured to be playing at their 20 year anniversary. The crew around Drumcell has been a cornerstone in the LA underground Techno scene and without them, Techno on the west coast would not be what it is today. All promoters running techno shows in LA, San Diego and so on should be grateful for them building such an amazing scene. @observe , good luck for the next 20 years and I hope I can play a little part in it, also in the future.

Dirty Epic welcomes aboard @dj-t-1000 for its fifty third episode of Amplify Series.

Detroit-born, Berlin-based Alan D. Oldham has been called "Detroit Techno's Renaissance Man" by Muzik Magazine (UK). Electronic musician, label owner, remixer, graphic illustrator, and international DJ, Oldham-under his stage name DJ T-1000-does it all.
A lifelong cartoonist and graphic designer, a young Oldham published his own indie comic book "Johnny Gambit" in 1987 to local notoriety. Hired that same year by his childhood friend Derrick May to illustrate several memorable pieces for his new Transmat label, this led to Oldham's very first involvement in the fledgling techno scene. More art requests quickly followed, most famously from the Djax-Up-Beats label (NL), where his art took center stage for many years (the lone EP that Oldham produced for Djax, under the name Signal To Noise Ratio, brought home a 1991 Detroit Metro Times Music Award for best single in "Detroit Is Burning"). At the same time, college-student Oldham was hired at local radio station WDET, hosting Detroit's first-ever all-electronic radio program, "Fast Forward," introducing artists like UR, Richie Hawtin and Carl Craig to local airwaves.

Five years later, Oldham found himself under the tutelage of UR's Mad Mike Banks. Initially hired as UR's "Minister of Information," working side-by-side with Rob Hood and others in the office, Oldham was eventually tapped to replace his departing friend Jeff Mills as DJ on UR's world tour (quitting WDET in the process), and DJ T-1000 (and his label Generator, distributed by Submerge) was born. Big shoes to fill, but he was up to the task. For a year afterwards, Oldham toured with Banks in the UR techno boot camp. Since those long-ago days, a solo Oldham continues to rock crowds in Berlin (with an unofficial residency at Tresor), Milan, Barcelona (unofficial residency at Moog), Madrid, London, Tel Aviv, Tokyo and all points in between with his own no-nonsense brand of bangin', funky-ass techno. When DJ T-1000 is on the flyer, fans know he's bringing the ruckus.

In 2004, Oldham finally left a flagging Motor City for the Midwest boomtown of Chicago. And in 2005 he finally established his permanent European base in the world's latest electronic music capital, Berlin.

When he's not behind the decks or in the studio producing electronic dance music for labels like Tresor Berlin, Inzec (CH), Minimalsoul (CH), or his own Pure Sonik and Generator imprints, Oldham has provided artwork for the electronic music industry for almost 20 years. Also, his drawings and large-scale paintings have been on display in art galleries in Chicago, Berlin, Paris, Los Angeles, and most recently a sold-out opening in Amsterdam.

Amplify Series 053 - DJ T-1000 (Live at NYE Techno by Compound)

A Sunday afternoon delight from two of techno's most beloved heavy-hitters arrives exclusively on our Soundcloud.

Berlin techno viking and founder of Dystopian Records Rødhåd and the young, accomplished and Mote-Evolver regular Rene Wise have released their 4 hour set recording from March 2023, a huge B2B session that saw the pair delve in and out of eachother’s company for our last Continuum party. They played an extended set during the final Continuum 24+hour party of the season this Spring. 

The session, which started at 4pm as the tail end of the afternoon drew in and went on til 8pm ahead of a closing set from Ben Klock and Marcel Dettmann, proved to be one of our highlights from the event. It's a real treat to be able to share the full recording; smashers from the get-go that takes us through the hard and heavy, to the atmospheric and energetic.

Lock in below and transport to the incomparable energy of Room 1 on a Sunday afternoon. Sometimes, we reckon, there's no place like it.

Justine Perry at Fusion Festival 2023

Sol Ortega is an argentinian DJ and producer, who haven't stop travelling the world and playing at big clubs since Boiler Room's edition of 2018 in Buenos Aires, which was next to Richie Hawtin. Since then, she has performed at massive events and clubs such as Berghain, Concrete, Watergate, Fabric London, Robert Johnson, Toffler Festival, Fabrik Madrid, Destino Arena, among many others, next to several of the biggest artists of the house and techno scene.

Always being led by groovy beats, jacking hi hats, dubb-ish, motor city, and even ravy sounds, she has released some of her own music in labels such as Elements, Rhythm Nation, Detroit Classic Gallery, Lumina... and there's much more music upcoming this year, including a 4 track 12" on Unitas Multiplex, with a banger remix by Narciss'.

She's now about to start her 3rd european tour of the year, and will be visiting Germany, including Berghain on June the 24th, and D! Club in Laussane (Switzerland) next to FJAAK.

We are thrilled to present an exclusive mix from the iconic Techno maestro, Chris Liebing. A luminary in the techno world since the 1990s, Liebing's journey began in the city of Giessen, Germany. His meteoric rise was marked by the acclaimed “Evosonic'' radio show that resonated across Germany's airwaves. In 1999, capitalizing on his rising fame and successful collaborations, Liebing established the now-renowned record label CLR (initially Chris Liebing Recordings, later rebranded to Create Learn Recognize), solidifying his status in the techno realm.

Over the years, Liebing's influence and prestige have only soared. He has graced the decks at every prestigious club and festival globally, forging collaborations with some of the most eminent names in the industry such as Ben Klock, Richie Hawtin, Dubfire, Adam Beyer, Charlotte De Witte, and Drumcell, among others.

Today, we're beyond excited to showcase Chris Liebing's 2023 set from the famed Elsewhere in Brooklyn. Elsewhere has been a trailblazer in Bushwick's official club scene and has evolved into a versatile venue, welcoming a diverse range of artists for live performances. This set is a testament to Liebing's enduring legacy and his continuous innovation in the dynamic world of techno.

Luke Slater's 2023 Merry Xmas Mix

Sam Coates took to techno like a diligent pupil, falling in love with the genre through labels like CLR in the late '00s. It didn't take long for the student to surpass his proverbial teachers. Almost immediately, the Manchester native was putting out pitch-perfect, functional techno records with everything intricately balanced. The requisite move to Berlin only sealed his fate as a future techno luminary, and by now, based in Kyiv, he's one of techno's most reliable, yet exciting, workhorses. Setaoc Mass records (and those on his label, SK_eleven) are minimalist but colossal, deceptively simple but not easy to pull off. 

We've praised him in these pages for his "sense of economy—how to get the hardest impact out of just a few elements," and that's the idea behind his RA Podcast as well. Put together from records old and new, and intricately layered, Coates's mix is like a time-travelling wormhole connecting disparate eras from techno, and highlighting the genre's most timeless attributes: mechanistic rhythms, careful pacing, rudimentary melodies made out of the strangest sounds and, of course, the power of the bass drop. It's hard to imagine anything that sounds more capital-T techno than this mix, which is a high compliment. It's easy to hear why his records and DJ sets are only more in demand from techno heads across the geographical and generational spectrum.

Olivia Mendez is a vinyl-only DJ, selector, and curator whose sets weave deep, minimalistic techno. Her sound is rooted in rhythm—shaped by her early years as a percussionist and dancer, and refined through a deep immersion in London’s underground scene between 2006 and 2011.

A passionate digger with a background in music journalism and event curation, Olivia approaches her sets as narrative journeys—sonorous, layered, and emotionally resonant. From Brooklyn to Kiev, she’s queered consciousness through sound, creating dancefloors that pulse with tension, release, and intent.

She is the founder of KONVENT, a FLINTA collective dedicated to reshaping feminist discourse through site-specific music and art interventions, and launched her own label, Dust in Grooves. Alongside Chami, she co-runs DIG Curated, a cross-disciplinary platform spotlighting underground sound, visual art, and community-driven projects.

Now based in Berlin, Olivia continues to explore the intersections of activism, art, and sound—smashing the patriarchy, one beat at a time.

Slam (aka Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle) are a tour de force on the global techno circuit. Their unique, six deck, back-to-back DJ performances have seen the duo play leading clubs and festivals across the world. They are renowned for both their experience and their powerful, contemporary sound. 

They are co-owners of Glasgow's Riverside Festival, and also host the legendary Maximum Pressure warehouse parties, which showcase the best emerging local talent alongside some of the most established names in international techno.

Their iconic Soma Records label boasts in excess of 600 releases, hosting Mcmillan and Meikle's own productions and many of today's most cutting-edge techno artists.

The last few years have seen some of the duo's most prolific studio output as they continue to innovate and keep things moving forward, most recently with the release of their experimental full length record Athenæum 101. In addition, Slam have also remixed tracks from the likes of Planetary Assault Systems, Clouds, Dax J, Damon Wild, Richie Hawtin, and Truncate, to name just a few. 

Slam also host one of Techno's most respected weekly podcasts, Slam Radio, which has now surpassed over 400 episodes. The show allows the duo to demonstrate their conviction to creating and promoting music and vibes that provide an antidote to the mainstream by inviting fellow artists from the vibrant Techno scene, from obscure names to current trailblazers.
