On August 9, 2011 the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) aired an interview with West Indian writer, broadcaster, and civil liberties campaigner Darcus Howe concerning the London riots. The “on the street” interview positioned Howe in the foreground with a burnt out building and fire truck in the background. Howe, when attempting to give context to the riots specifically about the treatment of West Indian youth, was continually interrupted and the BBC interviewer who, through her questioning, not only mispronounced his name but also represented Howe as being an active agent in the violence associated with the riots.

The winter's almost gone and Luettje Luise's Mama comes out of hibernation. With a new playground at home, it will take a talented hand to prepare for the upcoming spring. Along comes @Nutia, sowing his seeds of ‘Raounuor’.

‘Fischbahn’ (A1) is a decent wake up call for the early birds facing their way back north to the deep woods of ‘Schweden’ (A2). Here, Nutia serenades those old inhabitants with a rattling melody, and sends them on their way with heads still light. ‘Em Pessoa’ (B1) tinkles on the flipside: a lullaby of constant perpetuation, which echoes its way through the mesmerising labyrinth of trees and bushes, only to be heard by the lonesome @Deer (B2), who answers with the most gentle mating call these woods have ever heard.

‘From Outside’ (Digital) the vinyl some unknown voices fly in. One might call them electronic - whatever that could be.

To celebrate the year that was 2014 I am giving away a special remix. I guess Pachakuti was my first ever exposure to Andean music - when I was about 8 years old the group came to do a workshop in my primary school. As it was a bit of something special in my little town in the north of England, we bought the CD. This week I found it just this same gem gathering dust at my parents house and decided to give it a 21st century edit.
