Ruben Karapetyan’s RKP continues a strong summer season by welcoming Gorkiz and Benja Molina to the label for their first ever collaborative single. Hailing from Brazil, Gorkiz has achieved measurable success across his twelve year production career, bringing his progressive minded sound to highly regarded record labels such as Meanwhile, Mango Alley and his own Transensations imprint. Genre tastemakers Nick Warren, Guy J and more have been steadfast supporters along the way, making the Sao Paulo resident one of Brazil's top progressive music exports. Meanwhile, hailing from Spain, Benja Molina first emerged in 2009 on the strength of early tracks such as ‘Never The End For Me’ and ‘The World Of Sound’, a pair of floor friendly cuts that would establish a clean progressive sound for the Spaniard. Evolving as an artist over the next decade, the Madrid resident would adopt a deeper, more contemporary approach to his production, eventually leading to projects for Massive Harmony and Soundteller. It was 2023 however which proved to be the most impactful year for Benja, with well-received debuts for Droid9, Freegrant Music, Mango Alley and Univack further elevating his profile. Now, combining their extensive forces for the first time, Gorkiz and Benja make their RKP debut with ‘Nuclear’, alongside remixes from DJ Ruby and Not Demure & Topo Larocca.

Luca is a talented DJ and producer originating from the vibrant city of Rosario, Argentina. His passion for music was ignited at a young age when he discovered the captivating sounds of bands like The Prodigy, Underworld, Depeche Mode, and The Chemical Brothers. These early influences laid the groundwork for his quest to create hypnotic sounds and immersive landscapes during his formative years. As Luca's musical journey progressed, he found himself profoundly influenced by the masters of Progressive House, including Hernán Cattaneo, Sasha, John Digweed, and Nick Warren. D.J. MacIntyres SLC-6 Music opens the fall season by presenting the twenty-second edition of their SIX: Stage-X compilation series. Established five years ago, the beloved various artists showcase continues to search the globe for the freshest new talent that the electronic underground has to offer, featuring a cohesive blend of progressive and melodic techno styles. SIX: Stage-22 continues that ethos and lands in impressive fashion with exclusive new music from: Rebus Project, Gowzer, Narik, DEGG (MT), Noise Generation, Headkube and Uberphat. Making his label debut with selection one is Estonian artist Viktor Pekisev aka Rebus Project. Mankind Continuum sets the tone for the collection with its sweeping symphonics, icy pads and chugging progressive groove thats perfect for the dancefloor. Also making his label debut is Gowzer who provides selection two The Future. Known for his releases via Droid9, the Glasgow resident brings a nostalgic progressive house vibe that excels through its use of chugging basslines, percolating synths and strong rhythmic top lines to maximize its club-effective range. Returning to the label with selection three is Narik who made his SLC-6 debut earlier this year as part of the SIX-Stage-20 collection. Echoes is the French artists contribution here and it finds a nice balance of progressive house and melodic techno throughout, highlighted by a distinctive vocal chant which makes for a transcendent experience. The collections halfway point finds DEGG and Noise Generation presenting their latest collaboration Avrasya. Hailing from Malta and Sri Lanka respectively, the duo combine their extensive forces for a peak hour cut highlighted by chugging progressive grooves, swing-heavy percussion, and a trippy amalgamation of haunting vocal pads and percolating textures. SLC-6 stalwart Headkube is up next with The Steel Yard, a track which marks his twelfth appearance on the label. Pace and tempo rise here for a trance-inducing journey complete with euphoric melodies, emotive chord changes and an unrelenting pulse to take the energy of any set higher. The release concludes with Uberphat returning to the label for his second appearance following a contribution to the SIX: Stage-18 collection from 2023. Doppler Flux finds the American artist crafting a quirky cross-genre production that cleverly coaxes drum & bass inspired basslines, pixie-like melodies and a heartfelt break to unite your dancefloor.

SLC-6 Music is a record label based on California's Central Coast near one the world's most prolific space and missile bases. There has long been a connection between space, technology, electronics, and music. Founded by dj/producer D.J. MacIntyre, SLC-6 Music is an idea with a nod back to history, and forward to the future, with releases from the house and techno musical families.

SLC-6 Music derives its name from, and is a tribute to, Space Launch Complex 6 at Vandenberg Air Force Base in Lompoc, California.  The history of SLC-6 is fascinating and filled with dreams of progress, dreams thwarted, and reinvention.  A multi-billion dollar project, the complex was built with the intention to launch NASA's Space Shuttle from the west coast of the United States.  After the Space Shuttle Challenger was tragically destroyed, NASA re-evaluated the Space Shuttle Program and the decision was made to scrap the plan to launch from Vandenberg.  The world was space-crazed and the city of Lompoc eagerly anticipated the increase in tourism and boost to the economy that being home to the Space Shuttle would bring.  When plans changed, Lompoc was left with disappointment and a lot of underused hotels.  For many years SLC-6 symbolized the dashed dreams of those looking to push the limits of our human reach, and those of a small California town.

The re-emergence of SLC-6 began with lower profile missile launches in the 1990's, but it was with the decision to launch the massive Delta IV rocket that the complex again began to regain the aura it once had.  As successful Delta IV launches followed one another, SLC-6 came again to symbolize progress, hope, and a reach for the sky.

 

SLC-6 Music embraces parallel attributes to the vaunted Space Launch Complex -  resilience, progression, technological advancement, and a gaze cast upward into space.  We hope the music brings you the same sense of wonder and mystery that one experiences when observing a rocket launch into space.
