“serenades” is a collaboration between two prominent producers of NYC underground, vesa beats (soulection, Beat Haus) and zbeeez (soul in the horn, LTDWBL). the producers enlisted some of NYC’s finest jazz musicians for this 3track ep that lives in the jazz-house world, going from burning grooves with flutes + upright bass in “nocturnes” to chilled samba-house vibes in “rebirths” to wide grooves with soprano sax + vibraphone in “portals”.  In the club, in the lounge, or at home .. be serenaded.

PREMIERE: Route 8 - Turning Point [Lobster Theremin]

Smoove is the archetypal B Boy made good. Despite his huge international success with Smoove & Turrell and his ability to craft jazz, soul, latin, hip hop and funk into world beating dancefloor killers – he can still be found every weekend he’s not playing live jumping on a plane or a train to go and DJ in Germany , Russia , Italy, Ibiza or just down to Manchester,  Bristol or London wherever his diary tells him he has to go..

Wherever it is, his incredible skills behind the decks mean that he gets asked back and the breadth of the music seamlessly joined by his turntablist skills jumps from disco to funk, jazz to soul, hip hop to house and back again. 

The endless flights, trains and hotel rooms are dead time to some DJ’s but Smoove is always creating new tunes for his set on the fly and working his different influences into the remixes and productions he is currently on. There were at least 40 remixes that could have been  included on this album but in the end he chose the ones that worked best together and made the album flow like one of his legendary DJ sets.

The album contains a number of exclusives including the Smoove remix of the new Third Degree track and a killer smoove remix of Afrka Bambataa, Charlie Funk and King Kamonzi. The Smoove remix of Da Wiesel has only ever been available on vinyl before and his amazing remix of Electric Empire remains unreleased (unbelievably) in many European territories.

Smoove started his recording career for the legendary Acid Jazz label releasing two albums as a solo artist before signing to Jalapeno Records with partner John Turrell to release two hugely successful Smoove & Turrell albums. Their last album was playlisted extensively at Radio 2 and tracks from the album have been used in more than ten film and TV syncs – making Smoove & Turrell  the new darlings of the LA film community.

Smoove is touring with the Smoove & Turrell live band, recording the next S&T album, DJ’ing every weekend and he also just became a dad.   Where does he find the time ?

The mark represented forgotten love, a tory of two young dreamers who had once belonged to one another. The world had lay at their feet, options limitless and adventures endless. Now the simple carving was all that was left to represent their undying love for one another, they would not be back to this place. 

1-800 Girls is the moniker of Jake Stewart, a London based producer with a bright and burgeoning future. He is set to release a new EP called "Primary Thoughts" - a self released affair which promises a great deal. We bring to you a track taken from the new release, this is "Forgotten Love".

Stephane Deschezeaux: Standing Room

Colombia’s Kaputt Club returns with another sterling various artist release featuring a host of talent that showcases the best in dark disco, electronica, electro and much more. 2020 saw the Bogota based club launch their eponymous imprint with a far reaching compilation, dropping tracks from a host of artists that perfectly represent the Kaputt sound as they further cement their position as a beacon of the Colombian underground. Now they are back with ten new and exclusive cuts which transcends the club and explores the human impact on the planet, and how nature came back to reclaim their land.

Born in quarantine when nature sounded much louder than usual, VozTerra a local non-profit organization invited people to listen to nature in 'Sounds from your window'. People in Colombia and around the world took the opportunity of the isolation to listen and record ths sounds of nature. The material, together with soundscapes previously recorded in the Van der Hammen Reserve and in the La Conejera Wetland, in Bogotá, were given to DJs from the electronic music scene to create musical pieces which are now part of the ‘Reserva/Voz Terra’ compilation. The alliance of Kaputt.wav, VozTerra and the Museum for the United Nations - UN Live, is the compilation of unconventional actions that musicians and people from all over the world took to express their interest in caring for nature with the hope of inspiring people to take action to care for biodiversity and mitigate climate change.
