Pluie/Noir Podcast is a bi-monthly audio-visual episode representing our work as an artist collective. Each episode will feature a one hour collage/mix by one of our producers/djs and a poster triptych by one of our designers. 
We interviewed both artists and dropped some questions about their vision:


RACK

Welcome Monsieur Nico. How are you feeling lately?
Rack: Quite good, I'm really happy about releasing this podcast as it is something new for me. Plus, I'm done with university, I'm currently on holidays, and I've been experiencing with some new sounds. What more could I ask for?

How's Paris and it's underground music scene? 
Rack: Paris is slowly waking up, music wise. The number of promoters and parties have increased for the past few years, that's a good thing, but the quality isn't always there. If you know where to look, it shouldn't be a problem finding a good party. I think Paris hasn't gotten its musical identity yet, and the overall crowd still needs to be or get musically educated but it definitely has the potential to become better with time. 

This podcast shown us a side of you far from the 4 to the floor. Is it personal or also a possible direction in your musical career? 
Rack: Indeed, most of the tracks are very personal for me. Each of them have a specific memory or state of mind attached to them and I've always loved music that is very visually and mentally driven. I actually discovered electronic music through these kind of tracks, especially trip-hop and ambient music. Production wise too, I haven't made any tracks like that until recently. It was a quite interesting and enjoyable experience so, yes, it might be a new direction. Who knows?

When & How did you record this podcast?
Rack:  I've recorded this podcast over the course of almost two months. This is my very first mix, so I wanted to do it the best I can. The more I recorded it, the more I was learning and enjoying playing around and layering sounds. The track selection also took a while as I wanted to record something that could show my musical roots. 

Future plans? 
Rack: Holidays! Then I will try to find a job.. I'm not sure if it'll be easy but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Otherwise, I'm looking forward for my first releases this year, I'm quite excited.

JULIA

Madame Julia, how have you been?
Julia: Very well. Loads of good things happened to me since the past three months.  T   he triptych is part of it.

How are your art studies?
Julia: My studies are just FUN! It's the opportunity to experiment with a lot of different medias. To play around, trying to give original answer through weird shapes, colors..

You live your life divided between two cities, Paris and London. How's the art scene in both places?
Julia: The art scene is very different. In london everything seems to be easier, more accessible. People are keen to work on different kinds of projects. They are very open minded. In Paris everything seems to be more complicated. You have to respect a certain academicism in your technics, and in your way to see things; otherwise your work will struggle to find recognition. London gave me opportunities that I would never find in Paris.

What can you tell us about your triptych?
The paintings follow the colors of the music  itself:
Blue - Sad and melancholic ;
Red- Murky, creepy, gloomy;
Yellow - Blurry .

Do more paintings , more travel s, and work on the next Sharingtones releases.

Sonic Safari hits double digits in style with its 10th release, LaDeira EP, the first in a series of slow to mid-tempo deep ethno-organic house collaborations between label boss BiGz and his trusted studio partner rBert. Together, the duo carves out a sonic world where hypnotic grooves, ancestral melodies, and organic textures intertwine in perfect balance.

The title track, "LaDeira", is a deep and spellbinding journey infused with Andalusian soul. Built around an undulating duduk rhythm and a tight groove that radiates calmness and serenity, its charm lies in the delicate, middle eastern inspired Ney melodies that weave seamlessly through the mix. East meets West in a warm embrace here, as the pair deliver an intricate production that is both spiritual and therapeutic, inviting listeners to lose themselves in its meditative flow.

On the flip, "Sierra Morena" channels the rugged mystique of Spain's legendary mountain range. A rich tapestry of earthy percussion, sun-drenched guitars, and atmospheric pads sets the tone, while subtle ethnic motifs give the track an unmistakable organic edge. Where "La Deira" looks inward in reflection, "Sierra Morena" gazes outward to the horizon, its rolling groove and evocative sound design capturing the spirit of travel, nature, and timeless landscapes.

With LaDeira EP, BiGz & rBert craft a masterful showcase of deep organic house artistry, setting the stage for a new chapter in their collaborative global journey.

Wa Wu We is the artist alias and label from Sebastian Mullaert (aka Minilogue). This is the second chapter, crafted in the Swedish woods. The first 6 episodes of the Wa Wu We label will form a collection of records, united by their signicant and unique cover art and the way they've been recorded; this being the focus on improvising expression, resting in meditation and the nature surrounding Sebastian's studio. All 6 of these episodes will be limited to 500 copies each.

It's almost ludacris to think that Slam, the Glaswegian techno duo from the North have been producing and releasing records for almost thirty years now. Throughout that time they have been involved in the formation of the Soma label, the imprint which released the earliest Daft Punk records, music from Surgeon, Funk D'Void and many many more. Slam's influence as a duo has been prolific and they are appreciated and respected across the world as much as they are in their hometown. Stepping up to the table with something a little outside the norm, we put the pair through their paces as they contribute an all ambient mix to our Monday series which sees them delve deep through the relams of Global Communication and beyond. This one is pretty special.

Marking the 20th release on Invisible, Inc. is this special limited edition double-vinyl gatefold compilation featuring tracks from some of the most highly respected musicians of the last five decades.

The astonishingly diverse palette of styles comes courtesy of renowned ambient innnovator Laraaji, multi-Grammy Award-winning producer and ground-breaking synthesist and sound engineer Malcolm Cecil (in his Tonto's Expanding Head Band guise), Italian 'Cosmic Disco' pioneer and DJ Daniele Baldelli, avantgarde experimentalist K. Leimer, New York electro synth-pop legend Richard Bone (all five of whom have been active since the '70s or earlier) as well as dub techno locked groove aficionados log(m), West Coast psychedelic electronics maestro Secret Circuit, Berlin-based synthesist/composer Eva Geist plus a veritable "who's who" of some of the finest producers of ambient, dub, downtempo, leftfield and experimental electronica ever collected together on a single piece of wax (or two in this case): Baikonour, Sordid Sound System, Causa, Ulysses, Epsilove, Luv*Jam, Higamos Hogamos, Randweg, Bronze Savage, Komodo Kolektif, Bal5000 and Natural Sugars.


Eliciting a distinct sense of musical other-worldlyness, the title is perhaps more than just a nod to Philip K Dick's "Blade Runner" and hints at the idea that if these transmissions 'from beyond' are 'lost' they may in essence be more rooted in our distant past than in some science fiction future.


Putting needle to record, ancient rhythms and hypnotic mantras merge with synthesized soundscapes and deep basslines to propel us upward from the primeval forest floor into steady orbit before engaging the hyperspace drive on a trajectory deep into the Great Mystery. 

Mini bios:

Malcolm Cecil is perhaps the most well known of the 20 artists represented. Born in 1937 he became a respected jazz bassist and session musician before focussing on audio engineering and synthesis and later going on to produce several of Stevie Wonder's Grammy Award-winning albums of the early '70s. Meanwhile he was pursuing the Tonto's Expanding Head Band project with Robert Margouleff. The track featured here, 'Bittersweet' is an example of the 'synthetic funk' created during that period in the '70s and has never before been released on vinyl. Laraaji first came to wider attention when Brian Eno released his "Day Of Radiance" album as part 3 of his Ambient Series. Specializing in hammered dulcimer, zither and mbira, Laraaji is possibly the least 'electronic' of the artists featured here but, on having received the tripped-out dub treatment of Canadian producers log(m), 'Sunken Forest' is surely one of the most captivating and unique tracks on this compilation.

K. Leimer is another pioneering producer active since the mid '70s. Leimer founded Palace of Lights in 1979. His early work has recently been reissued by Autumn and RVNG, and his early cassette work is in the critically acclaimed Vinyl-On-Demand box set American Cassette Culture. His current catalogue includes seventeen albums and many more collaboratve albums and singles.

Also active since the '70s, Richard Bone is a respected artist whose "Vaulted Visions: Filmworks, Synth Pop, Demos & Experiments 1978-83" retrospective was yet another release that recently saw the light of day (again on Vinyl-On-Demand). He was one of the founders of the New York electronic music scene and formed cult act Shox Lumania in 1981. Here he gets the remix treatment from another veteran pioneer of another style entirely - that of renonwned cosmic 'afro' DJ, Daniele Baldelli (also active since the '70s) assisted by his long-term collaborator Marco Dionigi.
