Join me and my friend Fabian Tombers with this active listening session mixtape from summer 2020 🌌

During that magical vacation with friends, we decided to create an intimate and engaging experience through music. We gathered together for an active listening session, where we shared moments of cosiness, dreaminess, and pure fun. We put mattrasses everywhere, and there was enough space for everyone to float away and even fall asleep. 💭
The atmosphere was charged with excitement, and the music became the soundtrack to our collective memories. 
In this mixtape, you'll find fusion of ambient and electronic sounds.

As you listen, you'll be transported back to those warm summer nights, surrounded by loved ones, laughter, and the pure joy of being in the moment. Each track represents a fragment of the memories we made, and we hope they resonate with you as much as they did with us. 💘

even tho i'm not happy with my mixing in this one, i'm really happy about the vibes and the tracks! I wasn't in the right space to prepare this set properly and I got distracted from people building stuff up and down at the dj booth while i played.

let's be honest: I thought about recording it again, but thanks adhd: no dopamine left for doing so. 
playing all again and investing 2 hrs I already invested? plus researching in which order I played which tracks and everything? .... naaah

or no upload at all and let it sleep in the dust until i'm suddenly 50 and remember back to those old days? (I will still be a dj tho, fingers crossed)

let's make it different: fuck this perfectionism that capitalism has thought us. let's see this recording as the truth as it is: a nice way of remembering this awesome event and the fun I had. 
and the damn beauty of sharing the music you love with other people and making them dance.

Abby is a musiclover and collector, a great friend ~ a talented florist ~ and a overall sound enthusiast.

In the 90s, when she was in college in the U.S. – she nerded out about music at the college radio station and contributed reviews to several diy music zines.

Later in the 00s she got back to writing digital reviews for a DC music blog, even after moving to Europe.

It's somehow different than usual but still very similar. The year has started and the vortex anyway. Friendships have dissolved, out of nowhere. 
Nothing stays the same. ~

The music stays with you, it never leaves you. I am constantly reminded of the power of it: its here to transcend the boundaries of time and space. 

its the sound for daydreams. its the sound of introspection.

We met randomly in between rain and storm at Melt Festival 2015 and have been accompanying each other through various times and life phases ever since. We've seen each other more or less frequently, lived in different cities, but have always kept in touch. When we were visiting each other, we've spent hours and hours sharing music, making music, rolling joints, and telling stories. Last summer, something unexpected happened: we fell in love with each other - and our mutual music sharing increased even more. 😂💖 In this episode, we take on the challenge of sharing music that we haven't shown each other before.

The latest episode of floating in colours is about the awakening of nature, the first fresh flowers, the fresh breeze and the gentle rays of sunshine. Trees are wispy and pink, the clouds drift by and paint a beautiful picture. 

You start to ride your bike. Between wind and rain and sun and wind and rain. It's exhausting but it liberates you.
Riding your bike saves you from the confines of the subway, from all the people and the sensory overload. Music feels different.

And by the way, cannabis is legalized.

Floating in Colours is my personal radio show, a bi-monthly mix inspired by my everyday life.
Music is my most important companion in everything I do, and through this radio show, it becomes a sort of diary. Which means honestly a lot to me.

This episode reflects on the past summer and the ongoing search for warmth. 

It begins with dreamy liquid drum & bass from the '90s and melts into lush sounds reminiscent of those warm summer nights. Consider it a sunny hug for these rare moments of sunlight. That's how it feels for me. 🧚‍♀
