Being a part of this community has been so very freeing for me.  Learning from the greats and listening to all of the music gives me so much joy that I haven't felt in a long while, learning how deeply rooted this music is inside of Chicago and music in general has been so interesting.  Watching battles, listening to tapes, reading about history, learning how to dance, all of this has been something unreal for me.
