Coyote are DJs/producers Timm Sure and Richard Hampson (aka Ampo). 
Since first meeting after both becoming residents at the historically important Venus club in Nottingham, between them they spent the 90s with residencies at many of the decades most seminal parties. As well as making regular appearances at countless events such as Andrew Weatherall's Sabresonic parties and Open All Hours at Ministry Of Sound, Ampo even guested as tour-DJ for Underworld.

Coyote officially came into being in 2004 when Timm and Ampo decided to start making music together. Since taking on the moniker, Coyote have had a wealth of releases and remixes on a huge array of labels including International Feel, Aficionado, and their own Is It Balearic? imprint, which was established in 2007. Initially conceived as merely a platform for their limited edition Coyote releases, the label now boasts an impressive list of artists and remixers that reads like a who's who of the Balearic music scene. Thanks to their distinctive sound as both DJs and music makers, Coyote find themselves regularly invited to play music all across the UK and further afield in places like Japan, Ibiza and Scandinavia.

Coyote (Is It Balearic? Recordings)

This is a mix I did for my good friend Jonah who’s doing the work and fighting a good fight w co-founding friends to bring safe spaces for the queer community of Albuquerque, NM w a party called CENÌT.  When asked by Jonah to do this mix (in our shady little sister way, lol 😉) I kindly replied an hour later w the mix. They didn’t even realize my response was the requested mix until I brought it up weeks later. 🤣🤣🤣 ANYWHO, it’s an hour of techno meant to keep you warm and pushing forward thru all the chaos & all the voices!!! Feel it & Heal it!!!!

In the past three mixes for "Northern California Soul", I've recorded a selection of records purchased at shops in the local San Francisco Bay Area, Northern England, and other American cities I've visited in the last year. The name of the mix series is a nod to the Northern Soul movement in Manchester in the late 60's/70's that served as a precursor to the acid house craze that first took over Northern England, then rest of the United Kingdom, and finally, the rest of the world. 

I've used the series to share music that builds on the selector traditions of the Bay Area and Northern England, in particular each region's penchant for certain styles and flares of dance music, and amalgamates the sounds to produce as cohesive and eclectic of a mix.

Moving forward, I'd like use the series from time to time in order to spotlight some of the record shops that have informed so much of my own musical taste. I'd like to start this new take on the series by spotlighting Cone Shape Top in Oakland, CA.
