This original track has a slightly different mood than my interpretation. The voice only accompanied by piano leads to a delicate, fragile impression. I thought I wanted to make the vocals a tiny bit more rebellious.

then I come back and remember it’s cold and its soup’s giving off the heat

And that’s why I can stay warm inside when I leave
Because out in the cold being warm is the only thing that has meaning:
