Altered Tapes’ (Chicago) remix of 90s Diva classic features heavy percussion and a massive breakdown, while King Most (Bay Area) flips a Disco acapella, and adds a touch of Jazz-meets-James-Brown breakbeats. Copping doubles is highly recommended!

The artwork for this series was designed by talented Mike2600 of BRLSQ, and inspired by vintage 7inch factory sleeve designs. The limited edition 45s include custom cover art and colored vinyl. (A black wax version with a different label color scheme will be available mid-August).

Slightly Transformed bring us the latest instalment in their occasional compilation series, which follows on from 'Summer Numbers 2019' and 'Summer Numbers 2020'. Regular visitors to this page should need no introduction to the respected London-based label, and with the album packing a whopping 26 tracks, there's certainly no space to give you a full blow-by-blow rundown: suffice to say that whether you're a fan of sparkling boogie nouveau, sumptuous string-drenched disco, deep 'n' groovy house, headnoddin' Balearica or any combination thereof, this is a comp you're gonna want to check for. Standouts for yours truly include Kiosko 33's Chuck Roberts-biting 'Theory Of House' and Kristoff MX's 'Funk With Me', but you'll find your own I'm sure...

"On the weekend, when the weather is fine and the wind from the Southern Ocean isn't making the ascents a challenge, I pack a lunch and take the opportunity to bicycle the roughly 20km down the Atlantic Seaboard to visit my parents in Hout Bay. The views en route of the mountains and ocean are breathtaking, and it's good exercise. When you reach your destination all hot and sweaty, the beach is more family-friendly, less touristy and safer for swimmers than Camp Bay Beach, which can have dangerous rips. You can bike down to the fish market or continue down to the harbour's end to Bay Harbour Market for a bite to eat, a beer, people-watching, and listening to local buskers and bands performing live. Tourists may consider the shanty town of Imizamo Yethu a "slum", sprawling as it does up the hillside above the town. But many of my best friends were from here and it was a lively, vibrant, happy playground for we youth, despite its reputation (and the at times unpleasant smell). Besides, the word "slum" has unpleasant baggage dating back to aparthied, and "informal settlement" is the prefered term. And when your day is done, the return journey back up the coast road is far easier and downhill, especially with the fairly constant wind at your back. And the sunsets have to seen to be believed. If you couldn't be bothered cycling, you can get yourself and your bicycle home on the MyCiTi bus from Mariners Wharf in under half an hour. And the views are just as spectacular."
