Since launching a decade ago, Slightly Transformed has become one of the most productive and - quality wise - most consistent nu-disco imprints around, with a catalogue packed with ear-catching original productions and on-point re-edits. Naturally the label's founders wanted to do something to mark their first decade, so decided on an expansive retrospective highlighting dancefloor hits, personal favourites and slept-on treats.
There's plenty to set the pulse racing throughout the 32 action-packed tracks on show, from the tactile, head-nodding '80s soul transformation that is Basement Love and Tuuwa's 'Promise', and the glossy electrofunk-goes-slow-house flex of Vigi's 'Acid Lies', to the infectious, bass-heavy disco-funk vibes of Chuggin Edits' 'Ain't No Love, Ain't No Starshine' and the piano-powered Latin house loveliness of Delfonic's 'Hangin' Tough'. And so it goes on, with highlights continuing to pop up at a furious rate. For proof, check the down-low swamp funk of Oldchap's 'What's The Use', the funky and chunky house pressure of Kid & Loop's 'You and Me', and the Tiger & Woods-in-dub headiness of 'Say Goodnight' by Ash Reynolds.

Deep&Disco is back with a remix package by singer Adeline Michèle, the Parisian-born front lady of the band Escort,with remixes by Kraak & Smaak, DJ Vas, JKriv and Dino Soccio. 

Co-written and produced by JKriv, the original is a modern take on 80's mid-tempo R&B, think Chaka Khan meets Holy Ghost! Blending a deep bass line with shimmering synth textures, the infectious hook really shines a light on Adeline's formidable vocals. Kraak & Smaak rework the tune into a chilled-out new boogie affair, while DJ Vas and JKriv take things into deeper and darker territory with their mixes. Dino Soccio rounds out the package with sultry and warm west coast flavor.

Adeline Michèle has been leading disco band Escort since the release of their first eponymous album in 2011. With a new Escort record slated for an end of October release, and other lead up singles gaining serious attention in Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, and the NY Times magazine, Adeline is set to make some serious waves in 2015 and beyond.

A Benefit Compilation for Homelessness in Los Angeles County from Pleasure of Love

Pleasure of Love presents a compilation of dance music to raise awareness and benefit the homelessness epidemic in Los Angeles County.  DJs, producers, and musicians from Los Angeles and around the world contributed tracks, hoping to shed light on the issue and provide a little relief over the winter holidays and beyond.

Artists included are Aimes (Wonder Stories), Wild & Free, Club Tularosa, JMMSTR, Ghosts of Venice, Turbotito, FSQ, Peter Croce (Rocksteady Disco), Ladymonix (Frizner Electric), Mojito Boys, Sacre Galaxie, DJ Duckcomb, Air Zaire, Dream Machines, Band of Misfits, Mix & Fairbanks, and Nala (London).

Homelessness in LA County surged over 75% in less than 6 years, as reported by the LA Times back in February, 2018.  Housing shortages, rising rents, and a slow response to help aid the homeless have created a complex and dangerous situation in LA’s notorious skid row and beyond.  In an effort to best utilize the funds we generate from this benefit, we’ll be donating specifically to Downtown Women’s Center in LA.  Per the shelter’s website-

“The Downtown Women’s Center (DWC) is the only organization in Los Angeles focused exclusively on serving and empowering women experiencing homelessness and formerly homeless women.
We envision a Los Angeles with every woman housed and on a path to personal stability. Our mission is to end homelessness for women in greater Los Angeles through housing, wellness, and advocacy.”

About Pleasure of Love-
Pleasure of Love is a weekly disco, house, and international funk flavored party in Hollywood, CA.  On its 2nd year, the party has had guests from around the world play alongside founder Dino Soccio, focusing on underground house and disco in the small basement club Dirty Laundry.  A small cult following led to the launch of a vinyl only imprint in 2018.  The label is currently working on its 4th release slated for January 2019.

Review: If you're gonna give your EP a title like that, you'd damn well better HAVE 'da funk' to back it up. Thankfully, Mexican producer Van Pratt most assuredly does. 'Nothing But Funk' itself kicks off the EP, opening with a full-phat bassline before ushering in an 80s boogie-style vocal and some VERY 80s-sounding synth chords. That sets the tone for the rest of the EP, with 'Groove It' marrying white-socked 80s soul vibes to a liquid-y funk geetar line while 'All Night Long' is a straight-up boogie number built for cruising along Ocean Drive with the top pulled down and your Wayfarers on, baby...
