Slime welcomes established UK producer Hoffman to the label. Having developed a strong following in the breaks scene across the past few years, but never being confined to one sound or style, he comes to the imprint with an impressive body of work. However for his debut here, he has crafted a selection of beautiful and melodic tracks that fit perfectly with the Slime aesthetic. 

‘Pieces’ glides into view through a haze of enthralling ambient textures, before enveloping around a skeletal garage beat and ethereal vocals. The vibe keeps building on its atmospheric base template, encasing you in pure, golden warmth and drawing you deeper into its clutches.

‘Strong’ takes things up a notch with a soulful roller strapped to a gigantic bassline. Delicate percussion glitters overhead as sonic waves of sunshine wash over you before the breakdown adds swirling synths and soaring vocals to the mix to send you into a blissful orbit.

‘Dust’ is an eight-minute epic that never feels like it outstays its welcome. Rolling in on spaced-out chords and a heavyweight bassline, the track’s construction continues to shift underfoot like tectonic plates moving along the earth’s axis. It never lifts above its laconic tempo, but with a narcotic rhythm as sublime as this you’d want it loop into infinity anyway.

‘Round U’ is a perfect summertime anthem, immediately setting the vibe with it’s driving 4x4 groove and light melodic touches. Once the bass kicks in, it’s game over - and absolutely guaranteed to get any crowd jumping.

Second track ‘Secrets’ hits it’s stride straight away with a tough 2-step rhythm, before unfolding into a proper bubbler complete with diva vocal stabs and rolling bass.

Finally, label-mate Angus Green delivers another master-class in remix production, taking the title track and tweaking the formula just enough to bring something fresh to the table - further proving him as the one to watch in UKG.

Slime is proud to present its new venture HUB, a series of compilations specific to one country’s artists. The first installment in this series comes from Australia, a continent which is home to a large section of the label’s roster. Drawn together for the purpose of this release, the artists involved have crafted tracks exclusive to this compilation, as well as taking the opportunity to remix each other’s compositions.

Melbourne’s Aaron Static opens proceedings with ‘Element’, a jaw-dropping amalgamation of the aesthetic of progressive house with the raw low-end of bass music. Fellow Melbourne resident Perka follows this up with ‘Winter’, a low-slung slice of narcotic house which bubbles with hazy melodies and sunken vocals. From there we head over to Perth for the warm vibes of ‘Friso’ from Everyteen, cascading drums and modulated basslines adding some delicious swing with that four to the floor. We remain in Perth for the sublimely laidback house styles of DYP, here hard-wiring ‘Seng’ into an exquisite melodic roller, complete with knowing vocal sample and snapping percussion. 

From there we head to Sydney for the crystalline sounds of Flash Hubbard, displaying his trademark diamond-sharp garage beats in ‘Now’. Swirling atmospherics wash over skittering beats and ethereal vocals drift through the mix creating something mesmerizing. Then it’s on to Bowral for the sublime electronica of Seagram Murals, here pulling something truly remarkable out of the bag with ‘Treading On Tiger’. Bleeping into consciousness with a beguiling female vocal soaring across pulsating beats, this is a small-scale epic for big hearts everywhere.

DYP is the first to step up to the plate for remix duties, flipping Everyteen’s ‘Friso’ into a melancholy tale of descending chords and spaced-out pads. Flash Hubbard takes on Perka’s ‘Winter’, converting it into a bubbling slow house anthem. Bringing things back full circle, Seagram Murals mutates Aaron Static’s ‘Element’ into a hauntingly beautiful broken-beat symphony which draws you into its clutches with considerable ease.

Nottingham’s very own DJ Terrex pairs up with legendary Nottingham star, Marita, best known from her 2008 hit “Geiom & Marita – Reminissin” which rose to fame after featuring on the game changing, Ministry Of Sound, “The Sound Of Dubstep” compilation, the track also went on to receive remixes from Skream and Kode 9. 

This new collaboration sees Marita bring the classic 1990 house track ‘La India - Lover Who Rocks You’ back to life in her own old school, soulful style. Paired with DJ Terrex providing a happy, bouncy, fair ground ride of an instrumental. Coincided with a full music video, and vinyl release courtesy of Nottingham based record label, Pond Life Party.
