From the makers of Slime Recordings comes a little label for loud music – BOSS MODE.

With a focus on bass-heavy sounds from all genres, the imprint is ready to deliver some incredible music in 2016.  After the success of our launch release from Klient, we welcome Manchester upstart HYPHO to the label for our second EP. The young producer has had a meteoric rise over the past few years with releases on Stanton Warriors label Punks amongst others.

For his Boss Mode debut he collaborates with Hypes, one of the hottest MCs around, for the heavyweight firepower of ‘True Money’. Bone-crunching beats ride over shuddering bass against Hypes’ incendiary bars for a mighty slice of dancefloor ammunition. ‘Handle It’ combines sparse drums over sharp bass stabs and atmospheric chords for something a little leftfield, before ‘Holdin’ On’ raises the tempo again with a rolling percussive monster strapped to a diva vocal sample. Rounding out the release Brighton’s finest Murder He Wrote mutates the lead track into a thundering club destructor, replete with UK Funky style percussion and a bassline so big it will rattle your ribcage.

Downplay is proud to present ‘Skin’, the brand new EP from Birmingham production duo Royal Flush.

Kicking off the imprint in style, ‘Skin’ employs a well-loved vocal set to a skittering 2-step groove, chopping bars against subtly melodic keys and intricately deployed percussion, before then letting the rhythm hit you in a 4x4 switch-up on the second drop to really raise the roof.

‘Got My Self Together’ mines similar soulful material, pitching a diva vocal sample alongside soothing chords and glittering FX to mesmerizing effect.

‘Hold Me Down’ alters the template again with a summertime jam complete with sensual vocals, bubbling basslines and a classic UKG beat that brings the whole track together beautifully.

Witchdoctor is an emerging new talent on the UKG and Bass Music scene. Operating out of London, the DJ & Producer has been steadily carving a name out for himself in both genres, most recently with his wicked debut release on Hausmade.

Downplay is proud to present ‘6AM, the sophomore EP from London producer Witchdoctor.

‘Champagne’ kicks off proceedings with a fully feel-good vibe, staccato rhythms and good-time melodies mixing it up before the groove steps in properly. Sugar-sweet basslines and chopped vocals intersperse the track for a little ray of UKG sunshine that will put a smile on any raver’s face.

Title track ‘6AM’ takes another path entirely, with a low-slung 4X4 rhythm guiding the beat across chord washes and a rolling bassline that gives the production a full-on warehouse bumpy bubbler taste that’ll have the floor full in no time.

‘Wot U R’ mixes the best elements of both proceeding tracks into a perfect UKG concoction, saccharine melodies inter-playing tough beats to mesmerizing effect.

‘Milky Pops’ builds a relentless rhythm on shuffling beats and 2-step percussion before backing into a huge, undulating bassline melody that will keep the dancefloor bumping for the duration. Gribzy keeps the vibe interesting across the length of the track by adding extra spice with FX, percussion and keys to proceedings.

‘Hidden Truth’ takes a darker path to the same point with ominous keys and disjointed vocal samples coalescing into a massive 4X4 stomper with meaty bass stabs that will test the biggest and best soundsystems this summer.

Downplay label mates Royal Flush wrap things up with a classic UKG re-fix of the lead track that has a distinct dub flavour that feels deceptively simple, but draws you in as the track progresses.

Downplay is proud to present the new EP from Lincolnshire producer Deadly Habitz.

‘Do It All Again’ is a mellow, dubbed-out 2-step bubbler, complete with echoing vocals and subtle keys dropping in and out of the mix. Underpinnng the beat is a classic UKG bassline designed to drive the groove forward. One for them hazy, smoked-out twilight hours.

‘You Got Me’ opens up the tempo with a rolling 2-step beat over retro piano keys and diva vocals, before dropping into some seriously filthy sub-bass that will test any soundsystem. Finally label mates Royal Flush step up to remix the former track into a blissed-out dub joint packed full of sunshine for those mellower moments on the floor.

Downplay is proud to welcome Australian producer Angus Green to the label with his brand new release, ‘Got To Leave'.

‘Got To Leave’ is the kind of overwhelmingly joyous experience we need right now. It packs a considerable punch upfront with an absolutely huge piano riff that feels like it was lifted straight out of 1992. A bubbling 4x4 groove keeps the action bumping nicely whilst the playful bassline brings plenty of bounce to proceedings. A future classic without a doubt.

‘Wanting’ redirects the energy of the former track into something a little more introspective, but just as powerful. Soulful vocals roll over modulated basslines and intricate percussion for a slice of pure UKG gold.

Scene legends Royal Flush step up for the remix here, taking apart the title track and converting it into a stripped-back 4x4 stomper, complete with jazzy chords and diva vocals to keep the dancefloor jumping.
