Nottingham’s very own DJ Terrex pairs up with legendary Nottingham star, Marita, best known from her 2008 hit “Geiom & Marita – Reminissin” which rose to fame after featuring on the game changing, Ministry Of Sound, “The Sound Of Dubstep” compilation, the track also went on to receive remixes from Skream and Kode 9. 

This new collaboration sees Marita bring the classic 1990 house track ‘La India - Lover Who Rocks You’ back to life in her own old school, soulful style. Paired with DJ Terrex providing a happy, bouncy, fair ground ride of an instrumental. Coincided with a full music video, and vinyl release courtesy of Nottingham based record label, Pond Life Party.

Over the last 4 months the track has gained amazing support from the fringe of the underground UK Garage scene on both radio, and in the rave. Including DJ EZ, Interplanetary Criminal, DJ Q, Notion, Riz La Teef, Main Phase, Dr Banana, Royal T and more.

August 2022 seen the launch of DJ Terrex, a collaboration project between artists DASEPLATE and J69, in this time the duo saw their debut single reach #25 in the iTunes dance chart, their debut vinyl release sell out in 3 hours, get signed to Earth Agency, and receive numerous radio and playlist support, including Kiss FM, Rinse FM, and Spotify’s Grime Shutdown playlist.

Fork and Knife adds a dash of grime to his take on label-mate Phonetix ‘Lighting Fires’, pulling out all the stops to deliver a refix that packs a sonic punch.

Witchdoctor works his magic on Limita’s classic joint ‘Static’, contorting it into a deep and deadly journey into breaks.

Finally, the immensely talented MKII heats up the club with his melodic rave-inspired take on Nekst’s collaboration with Orla O’Dwyer ‘Connektions’, delivering a perfect closing track.

The first two volumes have been hugely popular for the label, with both debuting at Number One in the Juno Download UKG Album Chart and remaining in the top ten since their release, with the retailer stating “with a reputation like that of Slime's, when they present their idea of garage future, it tends to be pretty definitive”. Both volumes received widespread support and critical acclaim across the garage DJ community, with substantial airplay on BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Rinse FM, Kiss FM, Capital Xtra and beyond. The second volume contained arguably the biggest underground UKG hit of the last year in Bad Habit’s ‘Fools Love’, which continues to be a staple of DJ sets and radio play around the world.

Fast forward to 2016 and Garage is very much in the ascendancy once more, but what of the future for the sound? For this year’s edition of the compilation, Slime has cast the net wider than ever before to capture some of the most exciting up and coming producers from the growing global scene, featured here alongside more established names of the underground. Across 28 exclusive tracks, we trace the huge explosion in the sound over the past year with a full spectrum of sounds and styles that take Garage into brave new worlds and push the boundaries of this ever evolving genre.
