The second release on Declassified carries on from where I left off with DCLSFD001, once again setting out to merge the UKG / 2-step framework with my influences from Drum & Bass and Dubstep. I originally wrote these four tracks with a view to releasing them as a double pack, but after some thought split the EP into 2 singles. Test presses for DCLSFD003 have just been approved, and I’m currently working on the fourth release for the label. I’d like to thank everyone for their continued support - obviously this wouldn’t be possible without you!

Bristol's Mushkilla has quickly been cementing himself as one of the most promising up and coming MC’s out of the city. He returns to ec2a with a summery 2 track, UK Garage inspired project straight off the back of his latest collaborative EP with Jevon Ives titled "Dillinger". With heavy support on BBC 1Xtra, Radio 6 and Rinse FM from the likes of Tom Ravenscroft and Jamz Supernova. Mushkilla has established himself in the UK’s bass music scene thanks to his seemless delivery and effortless flow.

Taking a step away from his UKG focussed output to shine a light on his versatility, Mush now fixes his attention back towards a sound which early fans will recognise him for.

Mush teams up with Bristol based Kobe JT, paying massive homage to the UK Garage sound. 4x4 delivers more of a house inspired feeling, classic 4 to the floor drum patterns and jazzy chords for good measure. In UKGZ you can hear the familiar 2step influence of old school garage tracks, coupled with Mush’s jungle inspired MC-like flow. The combination, a true tribute to the formative years of UKG and a crystal reflection of Mush’s talent.

After mastering the fields of jazz infused deep house, Edward White flexes his ability to produce within the realms of UK bass with an explosive four-track E.P.

I Get Cake touches all corners of the UKG scene, presenting bass heavy dancefloor wreckers, as well as soulful two-step chops where influences from White’s experience in deep house can be heard through expansive soundscapes.

The project opens up with a driving two-step rhythm with cheeky vocal jitters from all over the underground scene. Whilst paying homage to some iconic sounds of garage, the production remains fresh with carefully crafted sound design intended to keep feet shuffling from start to finish.

I Get Cake, the primary track of the E.P can be described as nothing short of bliss. An irresistibly groovy synth melody is layered upon floaty padwork and swirling soundscapes. With all aspects within this expansive sound palette merging so effortlessly, it is clear to see why the E.P is dedicated to this soon to be anthem.

The Things You Make Me Do is a perfect example of White’s ability to infuse his deep house roots with the sounds of UKG. Growling saw bass patterns and a funky two-step rhythm are kept flowing with seductive vocals and climbing plucks. Whether on a sunlit terrace or as the final track of an after hours party, The Things You Make Me Do is bound to bring a sense of euphoria to all its listeners.

The E.P finishes with a bang, as Good 2 U propels listeners with a speedy, break infused footwork weapon. Perfectly balancing a club driven sound with ambient atmospheric synth work, this versatile tack is a hidden gem for any DJ’s catalogue.

Edward White’s ability to conquer both explosive bass orientated club heaters, as well as deep and melodic euphoric rhythms, demonstrates why he is a strong addition to the UK bass scene. I Get Cake is a triumphant release for the artist and is sure to get its recognition from some of the biggest names in the game.

We are incredibly excited to welcome the fantastic sounds of Cortese to the extended STPT family. Having followed their process closely over the last few months, we were quickly on to them with an invite into the introducing set-up, with which we love nothing more than bringing Brighton based acts forward. This debut from them is a great example of what we can expect in the future as they unveil 'Marble Arch', a subtle UKG roller packed with explosive subby energy and jittery 2-steppy rhythms. This is what Cortese is all about and we couldn't be happier to have them on board!
