Boss Mode is a subsidiary imprint of Slime Recordings, one of the longest-running bass music labels in the UK.  

Focusing on the darker end of the genre spectrum, the label looks to navigate the outlier intersections between UK Garage, Dubstep, Breaks and House.

Boss Mode re-animates itself once again to present the pure bass mayhem of tag-team production crew 2fwb & DJ Wisk.

‘Babylon’ is a wave. Sinister chords and skittering percussion builds the hype before unloading a bass salvo that will rattle ribcages and soundsystems alike. The temperature remains high throughout the track, ensuring ravers will be feeling the burn on this one.

Scene legend Sovereign drops the first remix, twisting up the original into a heavyweight low-end monster that packs a lot of punch into it’s running time. The mysterious UNKWN brings the heat on the second remix, flipping the title track into a pitch-perfect UKG roller that will get the crowd bubbling.

Rounding off the package, Wisk enlists the talents of infamous producer Beat for a retro-futurist take on the 90s rave sound, complete with thunderous breakbeats and cavernous bass for a true warehouse anthem.

Kicking things off in considerable style, we proudly present the first salvo in this experiment from KLIENT. The last few years have seen the Scottish & Polish production duo go from strength to strength, with releases on Trouble & Bass, Tessellate and 877 gaining support from scene leaders such as DJ Zinc, Roska, My Nu Leng, Shadow Child and many more. For their Boss Mode debut they deliver two devastating cuts of bassweight science that defy classification, mutating garage, dubstep and house into something that is uniquely their own sound.

With a focus on bass-heavy sounds from all genres, the imprint is ready to deliver some incredible music in 2016.  After the success of our launch release from Klient, we welcome Manchester upstart HYPHO to the label for our second EP. The young producer has had a meteoric rise over the past few years with releases on Stanton Warriors label Punks amongst others.

For his Boss Mode debut he collaborates with Hypes, one of the hottest MCs around, for the heavyweight firepower of ‘True Money’. Bone-crunching beats ride over shuddering bass against Hypes’ incendiary bars for a mighty slice of dancefloor ammunition. ‘Handle It’ combines sparse drums over sharp bass stabs and atmospheric chords for something a little leftfield, before ‘Holdin’ On’ raises the tempo again with a rolling percussive monster strapped to a diva vocal sample. Rounding out the release Brighton’s finest Murder He Wrote mutates the lead track into a thundering club destructor, replete with UK Funky style percussion and a bassline so big it will rattle your ribcage.

Boss Mode reboots for a new era with the arrival of Russian producer Sine Step to the label.

‘Mars’ opens in an ominous fashion, with foreboding tales of martian invasions. Atmospheric chords are pulled across buzz-saw bass and skeletal 2-Step percussion, drawing you into it’s dark conspiracy.

‘Rage’ switches things up with a melodic introduction before unleashing a bass-heavy shape-shifter of a track, mutating through several stages until the dance-floor will be in a frenzy.

‘Triad’ completes the package with a deep and deadly dubbed-out ride to the dark side, complete with chest-rattling sub-bass and rolling breaks.

Boss Mode continues it’s rise from the grave with a brand new salvo of raw fire-power from London-based DJ & Producer Pressa.

‘Tronik’ wastes no time in delivering it’s intent straight out the gate with tumbling breakbeats and buzzsaw basslines cultivating a malevolent atmosphere before each build and drop snaps your neck to attention. This one is a raw warehouse shaker and will hit hard on any soundsystem.

‘ADHD’ switches up the styles with a more funked-up breakbeat rhythm, and much like it’s title flips between sounds and FX at speed like it’s had too much sugar. It adds a touch of retro flair to make you nostalgic for those proto-rave days before everything got a genre name assigned to it, but with one foot firmly in the future to ensure it’s tough enough for modern dances.

The original badman KXVU takes the latter track into outer space with a wild, dubbed-out re-fix that amplifies the bass and FX with a steppers groove that’ll demolish any discerning dancefloor.

Boss Mode re-animates itself once again to present the raw breaks energy of Spanish DJ and producer Bowser.

‘Small Steps’ is a tasty mix of UKG and breaks, packed with a slab of speaker-crunching bass and ominous FX. It’s a track that will test the structural integrity of any club, as well rattle a raver’s ribcage at the same time. Deploy with caution!

‘Memories’ deceives you with a sugar sweet female vocal to open up the track, before dropping into a monstrous breakbeat salvo, complete with Bingo Beats-era bassline stabs and old school rave FX that will tear any dancefloor up with ease.

Boss Mode re-animates itself once again to present the raw rave energy of the mysterious China-based production outfit known only as RHXPHN feat. Simon B.

‘Real’ is the kind of old-skool hardcore joint that could have come straight from an unearthed DAT tape circa 1992. Hi-NRG piano arpeggios are strapped to a thundering 4x4 kick-drum with a dash of jungle on top, for an absolutely face-melting warehouse weapon that is so authentic to the golden era of rave you can practically smell the Vicks Vaporub.

‘How Can I Let You Go’ mines a similar vein with it’s soaring diva vocals and rough breakbeat exoskeleton encasing a cavernous, skull-splitting bassline that takes you on a ride to the darkside with it’s sinister melodies and atonal LFO bleeps.

The inimitable MKII steps up on remix duties to round things off with a blistering take on the title track, mutating the original into a breakbeat roller complete with grime-flavoured orchestral stabs, flowing piano lines and a symphonic flourish that will have you sweating serotonin in a nanosecond.
