After Warren hoovering around our heads at 6AM every morning we knew we had to leave his flat; my brother found a one bedroom basement flat on the quick, Myself, our friend Dal and my brother and his wife all crashed there, Dal on the sofa and myself on a rug on the floor. The place was full of mould and mildew and was visited by Woodlice on the regular, Dal’s English Bull Terrier Amos used to try to eat them.

One morning I remember heading to the local Iceland store with a spring in my step, I felt so good and was chatting to everyone in the store and everywhere else throughout the day. I proceeded to the bank where I chatted with the bank manager constantly about complete and utter shite.

It wasn't until I got home that evening I was climbing the walls, Dal started lauging and my brother admitted he had spiked my morning tea with speed, it all made sense after that!!

I can remember waking up suddenly one morning to the door being crashed in and three men running in with crowbars, my brothers friend Dal was sound asleep in a sleeping bag on the sofa, one of the guys started attacking him whilst he was still in curled up in his sleeping bag, Dal came around from his sleep and managed to fight him off albeit half asleep...it was shortly  after that we decided to move again!! Next stop was Customhouse.

The rave scene was still pretty quiet due to the new laws, but we were ready to head to Trafalgar Square for the Freedom To Party March, not really sure what we thought we would change but it was fun being part of it,

All Basses Covered (The Infamous South Beach Set, December 2012)

Solid Steel in association with Serato (4th January) It's 2013 and we're celebrating 25 years of 'The Broadest Beats' on Solid Steel. But first we take a look at where it all began, before Solid Steel even started. 
On the pirate station Kiss FM in the mid to late eighties Matt Black and Jon More both had separate shows, we hear clips from both and then as they joined forces in 1988 prior to Kiss shutting down whilst applying for legal status at the end of the year.

To start with we scan the airwaves through various London Pirate Stations of the time, landing at Kiss 94 FM to hear Matt Black's  Mastermix Dance Party dropping exclusive Coldcut tracks for the first time and music from the emerging House scene. Jon More takes over with the Meltdown Party playing 'new' releases from The Beastie Boys, Eric B & Rakim and Adrian Sherwood plus the original version of 'The Only Way Is Up' that they later covered with Yazz and took to the top of the charts.

Then we hear them together for their last show on the Pirate Kiss 94 FM whilst waiting for a licence. Music comes from Kraftwerk plus a Todd Terry workout and, as they say goodbye, we hear a farewell from Kiss founder Gordon Mac and the announcement of a new commercial station for London...

We bring together the friendliest partyheads,
to enjoy the finest underground party music.
Old skool meets nu skool, breaks beats & basslines.

We started in September 2004, when DJs El Carlos and Purplenoiz joined forces. Playing upstairs at the Patkav, Moseley, a local bar with an intimate dancefloor, perfect for a pre-club session.

In 2005 we moved down the road to 'Upstairs' at the Cross. There was a huge attic with a dancefloor, bar and chillout area complete with sofas and dimmed lighting.

We started 2006 in the famous Epic bar at Moseley's old bus depot. We then moved to Rooty Frooty at the Custard Factory. The cosy cafe became a club by night. With organic drinks and a dancefloor, it was perfect for Jumping & Shaking.

In 2007 we joined forces with Citricity to take over the whole of Moseley's old bus depot for a massive allniter.

Godfather’, ‘Legend’, ‘International Hero’. All accolades attributed by loving fans Worldwide to the DJ, Producer and scene pioneer known as ‘Slipmatt’. For over three decades, this dubplate diamond has been changing the game, staying on the pulse and keeping ahead of the curve, packing dancefloors and selling out clubs long before it was cool and still does so to this very day.
  
Having produced a ton of successful singles and compiled a number of hit selling mix albums under his ‘Slipmatt’ alias for some of the World’s most respected record labels including United Dance and Ministry Of Sound, ‘Slipmatt’ is also one of the masterminds behind legendary production outfit SL2 (along with Lime and MC Jay), the visionaries responsible for the chart smashing anthems ‘On A Ragga Tip’ & ‘Way In My Brain’ among many others on the iconic label XL Recordings, home to legendary acts such as ‘The Prodigy’, ‘Basement Jaxx’; and ‘Adele’. 

‘On A Ragga Tip’ is presently enjoying a resurgence of popularity as it goes on the current Virgin Media TV ad as part of their Un-Limiting adverts which includes the new ‘On A Ragga Tip’ Un-Limiting Remix, which has equally proved as popular as ever with dancefloors around the globe and this year alone is scheduled  to collaborate in the studio with Shades Of Rhythm, Andy Galea of Sol Brothers, Alex P, Awesome 3, Alexis Raphael, Sooney and, his good friend DJ Lime with some brand new SL2 releases also in the pipeline.

This wayward don of dance has also played at every major dance event and venue worth knowing about over the years including Energy, Telepathy, Fantazia, Vision, Universe, World Dance, United Dance, Dreamscape, Helter Skelter, Slammin’ Vinyl, Rezurrection, Elevation, Moondance, Raindance, Peace Fest, Clockwork Orange and to top it all off had the great honour of playing directly after his good friends ‘The Prodigy’ to a packed O2 Arena of over 20, 000 people, bringing that particular night to an epic close, and ringing in the year 2014 with a tremendous bang.

‘Slipmatt’ also repeatedly continues to play across the globe in the USA, Asia, Australia, Europe and every corner of his native UK for a string of well recognised and well attended club promotions, festivals and events. He’s no stranger to a Festival or two either playing at leading big top gigs such as Glastonbury, Boomtown and We Are Festival and there has also been and continues to be multiple overseas visits to Ibiza where Slipmatt still to this day enjoys regular return trips to the White Isle’s most infamous hot spots to play such as Eden, Es Paradis and Benimussa Park (The Zoo) 

His media outreach is quite noteworthy also, having started RAW FM, been a resident on Kiss FM, a regular in M8 Magazine and Mixmag, featured in the illustrious DJ Magazine Top 100, he’s been on BBC television a number of times including the famous chart show ‘Top Of The Pops’, runs two of his own popular Radio shows and Podcasts ‘World Of Rave’ and ‘Slip’s House’ and additionally, has won a multitude of awards, including that of ‘Best DJ’ and ‘Best Producer’ awarded by some of the industries most respected bodies such as Kiss FM and EHM.

Not one to ever slow down or fall behind and always keeping himself fresh and relevant, this dancefloor don has been focusing lately on the biggest and best house beats, which has led him to an already extraordinarily busy 2020. Add to that his upcoming book “My Story (and How I Became a World Class DJ)”, which is set to be a smash hit amongst rave fanatics the World over later this year and with over a hundred gigs booked for 2020 already (mid-Feb), there are no signs of this crowd pleasing international artist slowing down any time soon. 

Godfather Of Rave and still keeping it fresh? Definitely.
