"SCHATTENBOXER", aka "Shadow boxing", is an exercise used in training, were you move your hands and feet as if you were boxing an imaginary opponent. Metaphorically, it can be interpreted as "fighting yourself". This glitchy track is reminiscent of these precise movements that invigorate both mind and body.

The Gentiana Paradoxalis Tempora is a rare and resilient fall-blooming flower found in the highest, rockiest mountains of Asia. This unique species thrives at altitudes where most vegetation struggles to survive, forming a dense, skin-like mat over rocky surfaces, fully integrating with the rugged landscape. The flower is known for its deep blue to purple hue, which stands out against the barren, icy terrain.
Unlike typical plants, Gentiana Paradoxalis Tempora grows without stems, forming a thick, carpet-like covering directly over rocks. Its deep blue to purple blossoms emerge in clusters, creating a striking contrast with the stony surface. The slightly translucent petals give the flowers a glowing effect in sunlight or moonlight, enhancing their ethereal appearance.

BCCO Premiere: Komet99 - Patternseeker [FLUX021]

We are extremely proud and excited to present DE/FRAGMENT’s third annual VA compilation. As customary in DE/FRAGMENT, we gave no guidelines to the artists to pursue a specific sound/emotion/style – we strive for our collaborators to express their vision unadulterated by expectation or rules.

This year’s compilation is more introspective and overall lighter in tone compared to our previous VAs, but it does not mean it lacks moments of darkness and club-oriented drive. With every year (and every VA we release), the world is becoming more uncertain, dystopian, and hopeless regarding a prosperous future.

For us at DE/FRAGMENT, it would seem the more balanced, dynamic range of VA3 in terms of emotion and soundscape reflects different approaches to coping with increasing uncertainty in the world.

For example, one might build a dreamy, cushion-like retreat in one’s mental palace of Selgor’s Computer, or one can fully surrender to the relentless pace of modern living, and enjoy the ride while it lasts – preferably in Obscur’s club with 2 Floors and a Basement, sprinkled with a copious dose of self-indulgent hedonism.

For full enjoyment, we recommend you listen to the VA in the given track order, as the track order plays a large role in our releases on how we thought the tracks flow best.

This track presents a reflection on state-surveillance, fueled by impressions from chinese mainland.  An attempt to discuss the cause and effect of such policies, providing a sense of safety and even a feeling of freedom but this lens quickly fades when surveillance is used for control and the natural flow of things is interrupted.
