Latest SB DJ Mixes

Australia’s Soul Wun is a young skater making beautiful sun soaked deep house jams, previously for the likes of 13th Hour, House Cookin’, Feedasoul, Clipp.art and of course SlothBoogie where he returns here following his appearance on the first ‘Dancing With Friends’ compilation.

Opening the release is ‘Piero’s Strings’, merging twinkly piano lines and cinematic strings with winding bass grooves and organic drums. ‘Japan Theme’ follows next, fusing hazy brass licks, a walking bass line and jazz keys with a swinging drum groove and spoken word Japanese samples.

Opening the B-side of the release is ‘Lily Flower (Adele)’, laying focus on an amalgamation of warm piano tones, a swinging rhythm and plucked bass tones throughout. ‘Sun Lady Statement’ is up next, taking things in a more acid jazz direction via broken percussion, psychedelic guitar licks and hypnotic, poetic vocal chants.

Lastly to round out the release Houseum and Axe On Wax artist Jesse Bru delivers his twist on 'Lily Flower (Adele)’, bringing a more upfront House aesthetic to the table courtesy of shuffled drums and driving low end, while the original’s ethereal textures ebb and flow within.

Tiptoes makes a welcome return to SlothBoogie Records this November with a fresh four-track EP, entitled ‘The Akai Samurai Strikes Again’.

Glasgow’s Tiptoes has long been a respected name in the Scottish electronic music circuit, bringing his eclectic style to the table as a DJ, blending everything from jazz to jungle, house to techno, garage, broken beat and many more genres. His productions are a nod to his many influences and once again with this EP were treated to an amalgamation of sounds. The project follows on from his recent acclaimed EP on Darius Syrossian’s Moxy Music entitled ‘Cuss Tomato’.

‘Techno Woo’ leads the way and see Tiptoes embracing a filter house feel, merging a number of choppy funk licks, vocal chants, and bass lines in an ever-unfolding dynamic matter, while dusty drums carry the bouncy groove throughout. ‘Brotherman’ then tips the focus on to soul drenched guitar lines, brass melodies, snaking bass grooves and hypnotic vocal lines alongside loose, swinging percussion.

Opening the flip side is ‘Mars Landings’, embracing a deeper house aesthetic courtesy of hazy Rhodes chords,
swelling vocal loops and organic drums before ‘Strings’ rounds things out, as the name would suggest the
composition is built around expansive string melodies, gritty bass stabs and sturdy, thunderous drums.

Melodica’s head Chris Coco launches “My Summer Mixtape 2014”,his second annual selection of Balearic music for the summer season from artists on his Melodica label.

Slothboogie is regarded as a bit of an institution, the long running London based record label and party series has been responsible for releasing forward thinking music which has helped push a new wave of artists and dj’s in the pursuit of dancefloor enlightenment.

House music underpins a lot of what Slothboogie is and what they do.

Founded in 2010 as a blog, it quickly evolved in to something far greater and now the collective are widely regarded as selectors in their own right.

SlothBoogie is a vibrant cultural force—championing underground electronic music with a holistic approach that spans curation, release, performance, and community building.

There 15 year anniversary is accompanied by the release of a new compilation which they are celebrating with a launch party in London at Cafe 1001 this evening.

He has also supported the likes of Roy Ayres (RIP), Children of Zeus, Benji B, Underground Resistance & MCDE to name a few! 

Jonna has released notable music on Lumberjacks in Hell, BBE, Shadeleaf Music, Flat White Records and his own imprint City Fly Records which has gained support from the likes of BBC 6 Music, Mr Scruff, Jimpster and Derek Carter to name afew. His last release 'Jus Move' featuring Javonntte with Marcellus Pittman & SoulPhiction (RIP) Remixes was featured in Juno Records Top 10 'Best Deep House Records’ of the year and was ‘Release Of The Day’ on Resident Advisor.

Our first release of 2019 is a sublime EP from Australian talent Loure. Utilizing live session musicians to create four tracks of Jazz influenced Deep House.

‘Hope Circuitry’ is a twin movement opening track that starts the EP off with a dreamy introduction of gospel vocals and a soulful piano. Loure then flips the switch on the track and roots it firmly on the dancefloor with a big funk bassline and re-chopped samples of itself. 

Up next is ‘Streets’ a smokey Jazz number effortlessly layered with sultry vocals, brushed drums and sweet sweet brass instrumentation.

‘The Beauty Was Always Us’ starts off the B sides with it’s thumping kick that melts away once the gorgeous strings, muted trumpet & pianos come in. Spoken word phrases are complimented by frenetic drum programming and a walking live bassline.
