Stefan Schwander aka Harmonious Thelonious is definitely not a newcomer. He has been around for a long time and has already released lots of amazingly varied music on labels such as Emotional Response, Italic, Meakusma and Diskant. He’s also an integral part of the infamous Duesseldorf / Salon Des Amateurs axis that is an obvious hotbed of talent. He describes his style as "American minimalism vs. African drumming vs. European sequencing", a heady mixture which is clearly evident on this EP though with a definite Middle Eastern twist. At Versatile HQ they were introduced to this clutch of tracks by one of the members of Acid Arab and were totally blown away. Stefan has a very unique production style, fusing all of the above elements with a hint of Gamelan, a dash of tweaked FM synthesis type sounds with a dose of warm ambience and finally his own singular touch on the mix. Here premiered is the b1 "Defender", our fave cut of this delightful four tracker. revisiting some of the A-side sound palette, but catapulting those cosmic tones into a realm of amphetamine fuelled intensity - peaktime drummy psychedelia for any and all dance floors. Chile’s Alisú joins Bottom Forty Records to release three hypnotic cuts entitled ‘Rompiente’ EP including a remix from In Flagranti.

Alisú is a producer and graphic designer from Viña del Mar, Chile who started her musical journey when founding her Manziping project back in 1998. 
Alisú released her first solo album on the Chilean imprint Imprar in 2007 and has since gone on to release on labels such as Tropic, Yukiyaki, Pueblo Nuevo and her Modismo label. 
Her productions naturally balance a combination of ambient soundscapes, field recordings and rhythmic grooves which can also be heard in her performances all over South America. 
Alisú’s ‘Rompiente’ EP sees her join the Bottom Forty Records family following releases from Doc Sleep, Leonard De Leonard, La Fraicheur, Ali X x Ximena, SHIT and Cid & Fancy.

The flip side of this beautiful release by Phil Gerus is handed on a dubplate(r) to [Emotional] Especial label remixer, designer and visionary, Jamie Paton to turn out another of his deep, drudge, dub outs. Coming as both vocal remix and dub – again conjoined in “discomix” style for the brave (dead) heads – this is Paton at his brooding, echo laden best. Rising and falling, Gerus’ refrain acting as dub melody around symphonic heavy bass. Tune in and dub out.

London based Chilean label Pirotecnia is offering this brand new video edit, made as a collaboration with the Peruvian artist and animation director Carlo Vega. This re-release is rounded off by fellow Chilean Nico Castro (half of Roman & Castro), who adds some serious italo disco magic on this remix, that showcases what he has been exploring lately on his solo project.
