Dystopian lucid dreaming… Is this reality? Is this a nightmare? Are we sharing the same dream or are we all part of yours? 

We have no answers. But we do have the perfect soundtrack as Curses’ label Ombra International continue to join the most powerful dots around the world. Somewhere between dark disco and post-punk, it’s the label’s first vinyl release in some time with three debuts and two highlights from the recent Ombra International 17 ‘Destiny’ V/A EP. All things connected, all things unclassifiable, sitting somewhere between Italo, indie, acid house, electro, synthwave and beyond. 

Turkish dynamo Günce Acı takes the lead as she continues to accelerate into the scene with dominance. Her Ombra debut ‘Another Round’ pushes us head first into an acid primordial soup; Trippy, relentless and full of surprises, it’s another sure-fire sign of her exciting rise. 

Elsewhere long-time supporters and good friends of the label Juan MacLean and Hardway Bros also both make their label debuts. The former lays down the deep pulsating sensation ‘Monika’, a sojourn that stretches out over almost 10 minutes of heady, hypnotic bliss. Meanwhile the latter sends us love from his HQ outer space with the industrial strength euphoria bulldozer ‘Early Nineties’. Ploughman beats and cathedral keys, this washes away the bitter aftertaste of lockdown with unfiltered, uncut feels. 

And if that’s not quite enough worldly Ombra substance to fuel your dystopian dreams, then look no further as previous digital-only tracks Skelesys – ‘The Scorpio Sting’ and Jorkes and NIKKNAME – ‘Citizen’ are both revisited on this pivotal release for the label. Timeless music never dates; here’s to another 20 Ombra escapades…

At the end of 2021 BELLY DANCE SERVICES bounces back with DEMOLADORA DE BESTIAS a co-production by Central American duo FABIO ME LLAMAN SOLTERO (@fabiomellamansoltero) & ODIA. Besides 4 original tracks the EP comes with 2 remixes from Indonesian producer/DJ ADITYA PERMANA and BELLY DANCE SERVICES (@bellydanceservices) homeboy NICK HANZO (@nickhanzo).

The EP kicks of with experimental HEYOKA. Enjoy mouthwatering melodies that slowly speed up until mixing with playful synths, dreamy pads and mesmerizing vocal chants. A lovely intro for what is to come.
Track number two BAYUNCO touches you right away from head to toe. You begin to oscillate your bellies in circles and glide through the gloomy room where tasty percussions and spaced out synths await you.
The third station of the duo’s magic journey is LA TUMBA. This crazy rave anthem foats through the room on clouds of extasy and the voices from the tomb mobilize the musical animal in us.
The fnal original carries the lustful name SOMBRIA LUJURIA. It perfectly rounds up the EP of this enchanting collaboration. Enjoy the catchy percussive hits mixed with shamanic jungle sounds and a captivating bassline.
DEKADENZ co-mastermind ADITYA PERMANA delivers a diabolic remix of SOMBRIA LUJURIA. The man from Jakarta gave his dark touch and prepared a strong belly wobbler that catches ones attention with shabby synths, harsh aural bites and demon like vocals.
The second remake comes from BELLY DANCE SERVICES co-head NICK HANZO, who saddled up a remix for LA TUMBA. With it’s groovy attitude, hypnotizing melodies and addictive vocals, this track is perfect for a thorough body work out.

For Samo Records‘ 10th release and 5th anniversary, we‘ve involved some good friends of the label whose work we greatly admire. Greco-German power couple Local Suicide has teamed up with kindred spirit Skelesys to deliver two killer original tracks for the ‚No Evidence‘ EP.
The title track ‚No Evidence‘, inspired by old detective novels, blends Local Suicide‘s signature dark and moody sound with Skelesys‘ haunting melodies and subtle grooves.
‚Weird Encounters‘ conjures up heavy Berlin vibes (no coincidence, as all three musicians currently make the city their home), taking the listener on a girl‘s diso- rienting journey while lost at a party.
‚No Evidence‘ gets the remix treatment from both Intergalactic Gary (Viewlexx), interpreting it as a hypnotic EBM version, and Samo head honcho Facets, who of- fers a high-energy, arpeggiated take on the original. Anatolian Weapons (Beats in Space) deconstructs ‚Weird Encounters‘ and transforms it into a full-on rave machine.

Belgian dj & producer Mugwump is an elusive presence with a solid tastemaker reputation preceded by in-famous DJ residencies at mythic Belgian clubs and a long-standing recording relation with Cologne’s Kompakt records, ongoing DJ support from the late Andrew Weatherall as well as a large catalogue of electronic ‘disco-techno’ records, released on leading labels R&S, Gigolo, Cocoon, Endless Flight, Eskimo, Permanent Vacation or International Feel. Mugwump runs the Leftorium clubnight in Brussels and his own Subfield label with indie power-house !K7.

Following albums "Unspell" (a mixture of slo-mo disco, new-beat, psychedelic pop and balearic) and "Drape" (a postpunk turn as a live band setting), Mugwump is back with new album “Pneuma” and its first anthem « Breakout » which revives the worldwide 80’s jazz-funk-pop hit from UK band Swing Out Sister (formed by members from A Certain Ratio and Magazine).

The track flips the initial escapist lyrics for a bonkers post-lockdown disco-technoid anthem which celebrates life, involvement and civic activism
