from conception to release, i had 2 weeks to create this album.

this concept was created out of necessity. for too long, i have been creating music that i like, and then modifying and tweaking it to the point where it has lost its original feel. allotting myself 2 weeks means i will not have time to fine tune each song and tweak details of it. this can go one of two ways: the album will feel authentic and real, or the album will feel rushed and unfinished. i believe it's going to be a combination of the two by the end of these two weeks, and i am perfectly ok with that. the track titles are strings of thoughts, making this album more of a journal of thoughts over the course of two weeks. hopefully this will be as interesting to you as it has been so far for me.

Little Inferno was a game my dad had downloaded to his iPad and which I discovered when messing around with it somewhere around 2013-2014. The cozy atmosphere of the game mixed with melancholic ending to the game made me revisit the game many times over. This game holds a special place in my heart as a nostalgic masterpiece.

The beautiful pre-rendered background, lively soundtrack, and bizarre story captivated my 14-year-old self. I would often find myself replaying the game just to hear the voices, see the world, and live the story.

Born in 2004, Jack Kelly (aka Slow 404) is a hobbyist electronic music producer from Iowa City. Starting with his first EP when he was only 13 years old, 'Higher Ground' would be his introduction to the field of electronic music. After years of being influenced by the likes of Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, Devon Hendryx, and others, Jack would come back into the music scene with a new perspective with his second EP, 'Sweet Dreams' in 2021 which would be the beginning of a long stream of consistent releases of EPs and LPs. Jack attempts to demonstrate his improvement in sound and style through each release. With his 2023 project, instrumentality, Jack delved into the realm of ambient electronic, creatively using effects and pads to create a unique sound palate that would continue to be refined and expanded on for his upcoming releases. Jack doesn't only create ambient electronic music, he is also known for his work that covers genres such as Instrumental Hip-Hop, Electronica, Industrial, and Vaporwave.
