Celebrating the hundredth Animix with some of Animalia's very own - a special live set recorded at the Animalia event in May by Ebbs n Flow (@ebbsnflow), the brainchild of Will Holden & Dashiell. Will is @undergroundcityloop, and one half the iconic Melbourne chuggy trance duo @hybridmn. Dash (@dashiell) has released solo tunes on Animalia, and also makes up one third of Animalia's very own boyband, Ménage (@menagerecords). 

In their new project, the two have paired together to create cheeky, steppy tunes which delve into tech house, garage & d'nb inspired sounds. Ebbs n Flow released a couple of tunes on Animalia's recent compilations and have much more in the works.. so happy to share this mix with everyone for number 100!

Taking over Tapes #83 is Hybrid Man, the electronic music project of Naarm-based duo Julien Huynh and Will Holden. Formed in late 2018, the pair’s live set suspends time - drawing you in deep for a moment of keen introspection before erupting into euphoric electronica. 
Keenly, the imaginative world induced nods at dance music past and present, where it fuses ambient soundscapes with IDM, 90s trance, dubbed-out house, techno and beyond for an all-immersive and timeless experience. 

 At the forefront of Hybrid Man’s union is a mutual penchant for hardware-based production. This passion sees the duo side-by-side maneuvering their equipment with the precision of surgeons, championing left-field sonic artifacts, environmental recordings and manually-played improvisatory instrumentation. A patchwork of influences; Hybrid Man have trailblazed the contemporary downtempo meets techno movement in Naarm, peppering their sound to technical finesse with dub-style mixing and effects.

The last mix on our series for 2022 comes from an absolute gem of a human and tip top deejay; Annx. Hailing from the big smoke and founder of the fantastic charity-led dance party ‘WHOMP’, Annx is often found spinning tunes lathed with driving and seductive hypnotic beats in clubs up and down the country, and is also partial to the proggy sounds we are drawn to here at Haŵs. 

In this mix, Annx weaves effortlessly through deep progressive cuts, weird techy head nodders and sleazy psy-pumpers before ending the journey with some hectic yet dreamy acid infused techno. You know you’re in for a treat when a mix kicks off with a vocal slice from a UFO sighting audio clip… 👽🛸😮‍💨

For the second edition of the Progcast series, we welcome a very special recording from sunset at the Gasometer Hotel during Prognosis: Volume 2. 

Fader Cap's productions and performances boast a distinct sound allowing him to make his mark both locally and beyond. A music head in every sense, his hardware based live shows never fail to inspire the energy in a room.

Written especially for our event, FC's set delves into elements of electro and melodic soundscapes underpinned by chugging progressive baselines, resulting in a hour of distinctive and vibing music - relive it here.

Listening to Niahm DJ is one of life's great pleasures <3 her sets are a culmination of deep digging through progressive classics from decades past, often paired with unreleased tunez from locals. 

Niahm's taste is as diverse as they come and has not only seen her DJing at parties all around Naarm, but also slaying the airwaves at both PBS and SYN FM. 

This mix moves through genres and traverses many moods — deep, sexy tekky to euphoric and trancey — in perfect harmony. We're feeling lucky to have Niamh join the mix series <3

A new age revivalist of only the best progressive sounds that the 90s and 00s have to offer, Hannah’s deeply dug record bag and technical finesse empower her to guide punters through vast emotions, often pushing us to soar into a state of energetic ecstasy. When we talk about identity and elaborated universes with coherence, two names cames naturally. 
The first one, Dream Software, is a brilliant graphic designer with an over marked identity, and his universe borrows his mixes of a very particular flavor as soon as it is a question of appreciating a work within a coherent whole. sånti co-head of Karagi crew and its mix serie drawings lulled with a delicious drollery. This fits perfectly with its weird leftfield dub & rock experimentations but also with every attempt to explore trancey and mental sonorities. 
For the 30th mixes they meet around a soaring and mindwave music.
