Welcome to the euphoric universe of Clint, co-boss at Slowciety and one half Mt.Rave (with 6tizen) Here we find him with his debut solo release, digging deep into his inspirations and capturing the euphoria and energy of 90s house and trance. Think Lil' Louie, think Hooj Choons, think Underworld. Think vibes as you’re wrapped away in new school nostalgia.

‘Libra Falls’ sets the scene. Upbeat and well on the way to Pumping City, but still proggy and cosmic, there’s an air of late 90s Cream to this as we get deeper into the groove. ‘Marathon Dad’, meanwhile, takes things full Gatecrasher with a pumping 130BPM groove that raises and raises in tension in a way that’s similar to ‘French Kiss’. Finally ‘Mental Season’ keeps us right on the spot with its similar turbo spice but with added psy-lines to the bass and flurries of synth pipes.

If that’s not enough, NZ rising star Eden Burns keeps the balance in check and delivers two incredible remixes of ‘Libra Falls’. One upbeat and full of drive. One stripped back and full of dub. Both maintain the vibe and spirit Clint’s created on this EP.

Three originals, three explorations into an era that’s not really been re-explored as much as other 90s genres; Clint’s captured the current energy of the time with a well timed revisit of a sound that changed dance music… And ironically made Slowciety’s fastest release in the process.

As electronic music reaches ever higher BPM, 6tizen takes another path: largo and refined.

Introducing Burden of choices, where a stompy bass/rhythm meets deranged synths much like Cliff Martinez’s The Knick OST. Plaintive portamento pads and chopped bleeps supplement the scoreboard. Indie-dance veteran Sascha Funke beefs the beat up, turning it into a proper dancefloor banger. Is it shallow or shallower? The question feels like a dumb artificially generated-one. A nasty bass layered with high saturation intertwines with a luminous 32-steps-melody. The refined breaks blend cheering-acid-lines with melancholic pads, forming harmony sparkles. Sam Goku pitches the track tempo up and uses complex rhythm patterns on which divine arpeggios dance languorously.

Slowciety August 2016 - A2 - Malouane

Today, we’re flying back to the Netherlands with Mr Daniel Leseman, the rising DJ & producer from Utrecht.

Half of Fouk, an alias he shares with Junktion with whom he also runs the label Outplay Records, he intends to explore house music from a deep perspective, the kind of house influenced by 70’s funk and soul.

Small piece of advice: when you play the podcast, listen carefully to how perfect the records sound; it's not a coincidence that the artist is also a sound designer.

Slowciety September 2016 - B2 - Daniel Leseman

After having invited Hate Late to deliver May B2, our precious guest to start off the month is another guy from hot fresh label Ondulé Records, Joss Moog,  who co-runs it with his longtime friend Around7. A member of the french house music scene for more than 15 years, he has released top notch records on Robsoul such as the tasty “Rooms” series.

His podcast shows the extent and sophistication of his musical culture. The mix is full of irresistibly groovy reworks and edits with a very personal touch. A constant funky vibe carries on throughout the entire set, and is occasionnally dotted by some deeper melodies take will take care of your brain while your body keeps on dancing.
Spoiler alert : one of our favorite tracks is somewhere in the mix, the powerful “Q3” by Harvey Sutherland.

With two LPs released on Robsoul and Late Nite Beats in 2013 and one EP released last month on Ondulé, the man is busy, to say the least. For our Parisian followers, you can catch him at Badaboum on October, 21st.

Slowciety October 2016 - A1 - Joss Moog

After inviting Joss Moog and Hate Late in the mix, we give you Un Deux, to conclude our Ondulé Records’ podcast series. The young producer from Vitry-sur-Seine – basically Paris, for our foreign listeners – released two deep house compilations called " Deep In Your House " on Serial Records, in which he declared his love for "original" deep house producers. The same intentions are palpable on his first EP, released on TEALER records in 2013. Less than a year later, the producer dropped "Roses", a much more personal EP where he got rid of samples to focus on composition only.

As a DJ, he is now playing basically everywhere in France, always with style and a solid selection. Get a taste of his impeccable mix technique with this November’s A1.

Slowciety approaches music with an open mind and brings different musical styles together.
The young label is always in search of musical creativity, yet it doesn’t forget its strong attachment to dance floor energy. Officially launched in February 2016, the label has since shaped its identity through podcasts mixed by a large roster of European artists. 
For their first release, Orsery, Clint and 6Tizen, the three producers of Slowciety, drop a various with strong deep house and techno sounds.
