In the latest episode of our podcast, we have a meeting with Denis Potapov, an active member of our community and one of the inspirers behind the Samovar project. Denis began his creative journey as a DJ in the late 90s and during this time has amassed a significant collection of music, part of which he has shared with us.

This mix is dominated by breakbeat and electro, mostly from the UK, created in the early 2020s, but it wouldn't be complete without some musical surprises from the 90s, so expect the unexpected!

Release number 14 is a double premiere: it is the ﬁrst Waswotsch release to appear on vinyl,
and the ﬁrst release by SMØR&BRØD ever.
The talented Geneva-based sound acKvist, co-founder of the BASSMENT! sound system and
member of the ADSR collecKve, takes us on a hypnoKc journey into the faster realms of
techno. The raw, energeKc tracks he coaxes out of his drum machines and synths have a
unique, fresh and posiKve drive.
You can clearly hear that there is a live act at work here, who has his roots in the sound
system culture. The 4 tracks are the result of studio jams and mixed in the Jamaican dub
tradiKon. SMØR&BRØD's love of machines and eﬀects, playing with the unpredictable and
happy coincidences has ﬁnally led to this extraordinarily lively and surprising EP
The opener ‘Portacabin’ on the A-side is a playful sawtooth ﬁlter elegy with delicately woven
metallic percussion elements that open up a slightly melancholic space.
A2 ‘Parallel Ballad’ is a hypnoKc, lively, cheeky canon that shakes you awake with syncopated
beats.
On the ﬂipside, ‘Urban Drive’ comes with exuberant energy, creaky acid basslines and 80s-
inspired, discoid synth waves.
The EP closes with the nasty ‘First Place’, which will Ke your head and legs in a knot if you're
not careful…
