Slow Down Clown - Keep You

Brutal

Slow Down Clown is an alternative rock band from Mumbai. The band consists of Vitek Goyel (Guitars/Vocals), Anurag Shanker (Lead Guitar/Vocals), Wilson Kenneth (Bass) and Arfaaz Kagalwala (Drums/Vocals). Their sound is a blend of 90's alternative rock, punk rock and acoustic folk music.

The band released their first EP "Say Nothing in October 2010 on Meteorik Record which eceived praise from the blogosphere for its folky and laid back vibe. The EP sold out its initial run, and has since been reprinted and is available online and in shops as well.

SDC played several gigs in 2010 and into 2011 promoting the EP, and subsequently have been writing more songs together. The sound of the band has evolved from a "folk rock" sound, to a more edgy and dynamic one.

The band is currently working on their debut full length album, scheduled to be released in October 2012. As a run up to the album, they released 3 singles as free online downloads. For one of the singles, “Stupid Sea”, the band enlisted filmmaker Aman Mahajan to shoot their debut music video. A heady blend of Mumbai landmarks, the video showcases the band at their quirky best. The song is about long distance relationships, and the strain they can bring. In the video, a female clown protagonist longs for her companion who is separated by the “Stupid Sea”.

It's hard to put a finger on the band's sound, as it is constantly changing. They don't sound like the same band from a year ago, but at the same time they are recognizable. Whether through Tek's lyrics or voice, the bands airtight rhythm section, or Anurag's blistering guitar work, they stand apart as a bright new band on the scene. Fans of alternative rock or even music with strong lyrics and good melodies should certainly check out Slow Down Clown. You will not be disappointed!
