Brain Damage meets Vibronics
"Empire soldiers"

Vibronics & Brain Damage teamed up and decided to come together around a concept, a narrative inspiration that will undoubtedly surprise: Anglo-Caribbean and Franco-African soldiers’ experience during the first world war. 
The academic historian, poet & songwriter, Madu Messenger, uses the product of years of study and research, to develop, within that very framework, a series of texts on some key topics such as travel, friendship, war and death. This project thus aims at offering a learning experience about this often little-known period of our history. 
It will draw troubling parallels with some more contemporary considerations on culture shocks, immigration, imperial powers and horrors of war that still affects all of us today. Following their reflection on this sensitive issue, the musicians of the project’s – all of many other origins, Anglo-French, Jamaican or Asian – move towards a cultural alignment, opposite to certain enslaving and communitarian models.

On the 30th December 2013, myself and DJ Stryda met up and put this mix together. For those that aren't familiar with Stryda, he has been a stalwart veteran in the roots scene in Bristol for many years and is half of the internationally acclaimed group, Dubkasm [https://soundcloud.com/dubkasm]

The aim of this mix, much like the other recent roots mixes I have put together, was to piece together and showcase an array of sound and styles that have influenced the music that both me and Stryda create, records that have helped form a foundation for us as musicians and selectors. 

I chose some favourites of mine from Stryda's vast record collection and we started recording. A journey in to dub.

In Continuing- Original rude bwoys of Jamaica were not always violent gun toting gangsters but breddrens and even sistrens who were not part of the status quo, who did not subscribe to certain things the "society" called norms,
In my research of rude boys in Jamaica almost every site had a Rasta Man or a man and sister with afro, although they also had men with guns it goes to show that as a Rastaman choosing to have a particular diet, have a certain lifestyle and "rebel against the system"... "they" would have considered you a  "rude bwoy".
