City Lights

In May 2010, my last contact with Roger, a close family friend - and a super larger-than-life individual -  was an email conversation talking about 'bigger picture' kinda things - y'know life, the universe, quantum physics.. I'd included the lyrics to the second verse of this song in one of those last emails. 

In the exchanges that followed, one of the last things he wrote to me was:
"some day soon I hope to stop for a while and think more about these things..." 

...and the unattirubuted quote at the bottom of his email signature read:
"It may be that the sole purpose of my life is simply to serve as a warning to others. "

Every so often I read back on these emails and, amongst a barrage of memories, I consider myself warned. Don't wait! Explore the bigger pictures. There's an amazing universe that we were thrust into and really... the unexamined life just ain't worth living.
