Today on The Neil Haley Show, Neil Haley will interview PJ Byrne of The World Without You.

P.J. Byrne A graduate of Boston College with a double major in finance and theatre and an M.F.A. in Acting from the prestigious Theatre School at DePaul University, actor P.J. Byrne has compiled a long list of impressive film and television credits.

Byrne stars alongside Dwayne Johnson to save the world from global catastrophe in the action film Rampage loosely based on the video game of the same name. He can also be seen in 15:17 Train to Paris which marks the second time Byrne has worked with Oscar Award-winning director Clint Eastwood. Byrne's latest movie is Green Book for director and writer Peter Farrelly. Green Book tells the story of a working-class Italian-American bouncer who becomes the driver for an African-American classical pianist on a tour of venues through the 1960s American South and stars Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali.

In 2014, Byrne starred alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street for director Martin Scorsese and proceed to team up again with the famed director in 2016 on Vinyl for HBO. He also can be seen on Big Little Lies with Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon, another HBO production and on the Showtime series I'm Dying Up Here staring Melissa Leo.

Incredibly well versed in drama, comedy and science fiction/fantasy work, Byrne is one of the stars of the upcoming SyFy Channel series Temors, which also stars Kevin Bacon. Tremors is a television reboot of the film of the same name in which a small town is gripped with fear over giant underground worms living beneath them.

Renowned for his pivotal scene-stealing role in Horrible Bosses, Byrne's character supports the stars of the film as they plot to kill their bosses. This film allows him to add Jason Bateman to a long list of important actors with whom he has had the opportunity to work. He has played opposite: Steve Carell in Dinner for Schmucks, Zach Galifianakis in The Campaign, Harrison Ford in Extraordinary Measures, Tom Hanks in Mike Nichols' Charlie Wilson's War, Will Ferrell and Nicole Kidman in Nora Ephron's Bewitched, Jack Black in Michel Gondry's Be Kind, Rewind, Jim Carrey in Bruce Almighty and Clint Eastwood in Bloodwork.

Byrne was very well received for his starring role in the 5th installment of the phenomenally successful Final Destination franchise for Warner Bros. In the film Byrne's character meets one of the more unusual demises ever in the series of sci-fi horror films. Byrne's television credits include the fan favorite role of Irv Smiff, the driven sports agent, who represents a number of professional football players in the ongoing BET hit series The Game.

Byrne is also adding writer to his resume having recently sold Brothers of the Bride to Newline, a feature film that he will co-write and star in which is being produced by Ben Stiller's Red Hour Productions.

In addition to his on-screen roles, Byrne also voices "Bolin" in the Emmy- nominated Nickelodeon series, The Legend of Korra now entering its third season, and received a Behind The Voice Award for his portrayal of that character. He is currently the voice of Firestorm in new Cartoon Network hit Justice League Action.

A Garden State native, Byrne was born in Maplewood, New Jersey and was raised in Old Tappan, New Jersey.

Ben Mazué dans son bureau-studio parisien  

J’avoue, il y a encore quelques semaines, le chanteur français Ben Mazué, je ne l’avais jamais écouté. C’est à se demander où j’étais ses dernières années. Car ce presque « quarantenaire » qui a été médecin avant d’être musicien a fêté il y a peu ses 10 ans de carrière. Et puis, surtout, c’est un parolier – et un compositeur – plus qu’inspiré.  

Un vrai soulman aussi. Fan des américains Otis Redding, Al Green, Marving Gaye ou Ray la Montagne et qui suit de près la soullady française Yseult. 

Amoureux des mots, Ben Mazué dit avoir été influencé par Renaud parce- je le cite - il a une manière très particulière de parler de sa vie et que quand il parle de sa vie ça fait écho dans la nôtre donc ça j’ai bien copié. 

Résultat, et ce n’est pas si évident : Ben Mazué sait parler de moments clichés de la vie, mais sans clichés. Et avec beaucoup de tendresse même. Pour s’en convaincre il suffit d’écouter son 2ème album 33 ans ou celui a suivi, certifié disque d’or, La femme idéale. Comme s’il voulait à tout prix maintenir la flamme, il y raconte l’amour qui s’use après être devenu parents. Un an après la sortie de ce disque, Ben Mazué réalise un de ses rêves : il quitte Paris avec femme et enfants pour vivre dans l’Océan Indien, sur l’île de la Réunion. Mais le « divin exil » est de courte durée car le couple se sépare. C’est ce que raconte ce nouvel album, Paradis. Ben Mazué le résume en ces termes : « C’est pas parce que c’est finit que c’est foiré. » 

Me voilà rassurée. D’autant que Session Lab nouvelle version ou la rencontre d’un artiste en toute intimité et en audio 3D, ce n’est pas finit, ça commence juste. A tout de suite dans vos oreilles en compagnie de Ben Mazué, chez lui, dans son studio de Paris, 18ème.

My attempt at Guy Michelmore's new year lockdown challenge. The whistle was placed as is, and then also sampled and used to create an alternative new phrase. The kalimba was mangled with resampling and fx and resulted in a funky plucked sound. Not sure if this is what Guy was thinking when he set the challenge - but I had lots of fun making it!

E.M (Endless Memories) - zYukiz (Prod. GC)

Every element in this song is made from three samples of ice cubes in a glass that I recorded on my phone. I put the samples in Ableton and with Simpler and sound design editing (Effects, panning, sample manipulation etc.) I created around 10 drum elements and 3 melodic elements from these samples. Plus I spread the raw samples into the track, with very light pan editing. I put the rhythms down quite quickly, because I wanted to make this track as fast as possible. Hope you enjoy!

I been doing these New Year Ice challenges for a few years and I suppose each year is a snapshot of whatever I was using at the time. This year, what with the Covid buggeration, meant I spent a lot of time building diy synths and modules.  I most recently built a Plinky synth, a simply lovely polyphonic digital synth and sampler. I fed it the original loop I used for the challenge in 2013 and used its outputs to trigger a DFAM and modulate fx. The decayed sax sound is the plinky oscillators fed through Monsoon
