Slync (Ian Stanford, also of Paper Street Soul) is releasing a five track EP on the acclaimed Masterworks Music label.

Slync‘s sound is always spectacularly detailed and filled to the brim with atmosphere and nuances.

I had a hard time singling out just one track on the Fantasy EP but kept coming back to the track called Stranger Feeling.

A slow and dragging combo of kick and bass shuffles the track into existence. 
Easing into a stunning groove, layer upon layer of sounds are poured on generously, thus creating a biologically founded sound that is lush and rich.

The dubby nature of the track makes for a perfect crossover track, bridging several genres and in that way having the capability of acting as a conduit in playlists and mixtapes/DJ sets that spans several genres.

Slync - "Tears"

Fabio Barker's back on the boisterous Ganbatte imprint after that sweet, sweet LP he put out not too long ago; much to our appreciation, they've decided to launch a remix attack of the wonderful "Dance Dance Dance" number. The radio edit kicks off with a smooth cut of that lovely boogie swing at the core of the original - a true vintage disco revival piece - but there's much more old-school resurrection here, starting off with Evil Smaty's lovely piano house take, followed by Sare Havlicek's gnarly electro bass uplift which gives the tune even more fervour on the dancefloor. Slync's version is our favourite of the four remixes, a magnificent blend of melodic house and synth-heavy boogie, but Phil Disco's much dubbier take is certainly not to be underestimated either. A full-blown dance frenzy!

We've yet to hear a single featuring honey-voiced boogie singer Andre Espeut that doesn't cut the mustard. Predictably, this hook-up between the producer/vocalist and Slync (AKA British studio sort Ian Stanford) is rather fine. In its' original form, "Do It" is a fine chunk of slick, 21st century boogie-soul featuring some rather fine P-funk flourishes. The latter influence is pushed to the fore on Ziggy Phunk's two fantastic reworks (the vocal-sporting "Remix" and instrumental "Dub"), both of which offer a near perfect fusion of synth-laden '80s electrofunk and rolling, peak-time house. The other remix comes from ISM chief Yam Who, whose version sits somewhere between string-laden soulful house and revivalist electrofunk.

Editorial's new sublabel Clandestine Boogie intends on getting everyone grooving on the dancefloor. The mysterious Dark Horse Disco is in charge here, and bringing the goods. Beginning with the sleazy guitar riffs on "Hold On" nailing that French Touch kida vibe, the original grooves keep coming courtesy of the late night mood lighting on "Wait For You" with its sweet and sampled vocal hooks and the neon-lit boogie down vibe of "Understand" sure to get some sexy moments happening at any club you play this to. Finally we have Montrealer nu-disco hero Dave Allison (Editorial/Kinjo) doing what he does best on his remix, which is equally as seductive but more glossy and hi-definition.
