Leading South African Tech and Progressive pioneer, Dean Fuel, returns to SMAAK with this – his most powerful, and very personal release yet –  ‘Heartbeat’!

An emotional journey of expression - ‘Heartbeat’ has a deep throbbing beat, tribal percussion and rhythms, driving drums, and a bassline that is warm and embracing. The vocals are uplifting, creating a subtle sense of euphoria throughout – as it builds into an almighty drop, climaxing with a soaring arpeggiator - a fitting tribute to embracing life!

This release follows on from his recent collaborative success - ‘Can’t Stop’ – also on his own imprint, SMAAK, which amassed early support from top international artists including Dave Matthias, Don Diablo, Joachim Garraud, Paco Osuna, Vonda7, Wankelmut, Gawp, Sonickraft, and DJ Hal amongst others – and marks the 6th release for the label – which is quickly building a reputation for quality Progressive, Melodic and Underground Tech House music.

‘Heartbeat’ features an Original Mix, an Instrumental, and 2 diverse remixes from exciting South African artists including Shuttleworth, who adds his groove based 'tech' flavour - creating a vibey and quirky House track, and up and coming duo - Ollie & The Wulf, who take their remix to a more minimal and deeper level with a subtlety that shows great depth and the maturity of their sound palette. 

For good measure - a well-crafted 'Edit' geared for streaming and radio play has also been added to the EP.

The debut Glitter EP from Ringo Savvy breaks new ground for SMAAK, exploring the corners of indie-dance and nu-disco, coming home to its progressive roots with a driving remix from label head Dean Fuel.

Ringo Savvy is a fresh electronic talent who has been crafting his signature sound behind the scenes for some time, and now is his moment to shine. Having previously released on Ambious Records, we proudly introduce him for his SMAAK Music debut!

The EP sees Ringo explore the more indie-dance and nu-disco side of his sound, branching out from his more Melodic Techno and Progressive roots with creative flair and style.

‘Glitter’ – the title track from the release – features a silky smooth vocal from the multi-talented Grace de La Hunt, and is a beautiful nostalgic trip into futuristic toe-tapping disco territory that hooks the listener instantly.

Meanwhile the B side – ‘Disco Monkey’ – is a playful fusion of sounds and styles, with big Indie Dance drums, a hint of early 80’s disco, a splash of early 90’s ‘Daft Punk’ electro, and a whole lot of retro vibe ready for 2022!

Label head honcho Dean FUEL returns with his biggest release yet! Combining forces with fast-rising star Jordan Arts on vocals, fusing their distinctive forces to create the driving and melodic 'My Way' - a sure-fire triumph that will captivate any dance floor!

Jordan Arts delivers an emotive haunting vocal to accompany the pulsing bassline and driving drums, which builds beautifully to an immense breakdown, then exploding into a powerful drop featuring soaring synths and a hypnotic lead.

Following fresh on the back of his recent successes with Anjunadeep, Cornelius SA has crafted a beautiful, deeper, more melodic, and organic interpretation for his remix, uniquely building it around a warm bassline, natural sounds and crisp percussion, dreamy synths, and smooth arps.

Dean Fuel returns to SMAAK for a second sophisticated release. Loaded with the uplifting and driving energy that his sound has become defined by, and showcasing the dancefloor weight of his productions with two perfectly crafted late night bombs - this EP looks set to define the tone and versatility for future releases.

Big basslines fused with nostalgic arpeggios lead the way for the title track from the EP, ‘Into The Blue’, with a progressive atmosphere and syncopated drum rhythms pushing the energy throughout the track and keeping the pace going until the very end.

Closing off the EP with serious momentum, ‘Alchemy’ fuses a darker late-night energy with tribal vocal hooks and daring synth leads that build tension in a breathtaking mid-track climax, opening things up for the final drop that stays true to its name - finishing things off in a polished fashion that Dean Fuel and SMAAK are quickly making a name for.

'Running In Circles' feels like a fitting title for the 3rd release from SMAAK Music and label founder, Dean Fuel - considering just what a year 2020 has been!

Delivering on the promise of pushing the frontiers of 'Progressive Tech House' - this release comes in hot on the heels of the previous EP ‘Into The Blue’ (which landed a coveted Top 5 release on Beatport’s iconic Progressive House Chart) and closes off a fantastic first year for SMAAK.

Dean Fuel offers up a driving Original Mix, set to ignite dancefloors in peak moments with its high-energy drums, progressive bassline, and searing topline, all underpinned by a hypnotic arp, subtly modulating from start to end.

Making his debut on the label in remix duties sees prolific and in-demand rising star MKLY (Ambious Records) dish up a fresh and balearic offering that is quite simply dreamy - taking the listener on an oceanic journey of the imagination, from blissful sunrises, through to awe-inspiring reflective sunsets. This will have the dancefloor grooving non-stop to its infectious percussive rhythms, lush chord stabs, and melodic ‘magic’ that you can't help but smile and move to… we could all use more of that right now!
