For his BÄM! EP he creates a late night anthem with a meaningful message. And you won’t deny him. The truth is: “Peace is all over”, we just gotta believe and listen. Smacs an Patrick Kong are a two guys producer team with a very elegant tech/house flavour.
As you can easily hear on their latest release on waap records, they are definitely no production newbies. Their first release dates back to the year 2004 and their new release "orange is the night" proves that they developped a lot ever since. The groove is in the area of the lower hips of your movements, deep down and dirty, orange and groovy. And you might want to enjoy the fluffyness of the sound on top. Also the remixes from Seidenbusch, Denis Yashin and Ken Hayakawa are heading towards marshmellowland. In the end you are tempted to go to Vienna, to see these guys perform at Flex, one of the finest clubs in austria. Vienna is not the top destination for techno at the moment, but after listening to this release, we might want to change this.

Smacs und Patrick Kong sind ein Wiener Duo mit einem sehr eleganten Deep Tech/House Flavour. Wie man unschwer bei ihrem neuesten Release auf WAAP hören kann sind sie beileibe keine Production Newbies. Ihr erstes Release ist aus dem Jahr 2004, ihr neuer Track „Orange is the night“ zeigt, dass sie sich seitdem immer weiter entwickelt haben. Der Groove kommt von unten, ist treibend aber nicht zu vordergründig. Dubbig verwaschene Vocals hallen durch den Raum und lassen den Hörer in einem orangefarbigem Raum zwischen Marshmallow und Wolke zurück. Man kann nur entspannt die Hüfte dazu schwingen und sich über soviel Fluff freuen. Auch die Remixe von Seidenbusch, Denis Yashin und Ken Hayakawa gehen in diese Richtung. Am Ende bekommt man richtig Lust nach Wien zu fahren und die beiden Herren im Flex, einem der besten Clubs der österreichischen Hauptstadt, zu hören.
Wien steht zwar momentan nicht ganz oben auf der Techno Landkarte, aber wenn man diese EP gehört hat begreift man, dass das vielleicht geändert werden sollte.

Sven Wegner is the master of cut up vocals and destroyed beats. Listening to his groove you would most probably suspect that he grew up in a very nasty american suburb, where the last chance to survive is being funky. (He isn`t he `s from Hamburg...) While others try to put some life to boring tracks with static beats by using technovocal samples, he is swinging quite fluffy on the top of a nice groove, making the dancefloor his. The summer is welcome to arrive, the drinks are already prepared in our fridge, waiting for some sparkling nights with this music. Our friends from vienna, smacs & patrick kong transform the song into a more techno style track, the vocals are taken down elegantly to prepare some more space for bass and the groove. Sven Wegner ist der Meister der zerhackten Vocals und Beats, und eigentlich müsste er mindestens in einem fiesen Vorort von Amerika aufgewachsen sein, soviel Groove hat er. Während Andere sich mit düsteren Vocals aus der Retorte bemühen einem statischen Beat Leben einzuhauchen, schwingt Sven Wegner leichtfüssig über den Clubfloor. Der Sommer kann kommen, der Groove dafür ist schonmal kalt gestellt und wartet auf prickelnde Wässerchen. Smacs und Patrick Kong, unsere Wiener Fraktion, gehen etwas technoider mit der Nummer ins Gericht. Da liegt die Betonung auf den Bässen und dem Groove, die Vocals werden elegant zurückgenommen. Das ist der Track für den späten Abend in einem chicen Club, aber egal ob Kokain oder Ketamin, wir versprechen, es tut nicht weh.
