Recorded around 1991,  at the height of Australia's "recession we had to have" - 33 percent is a social commentary song reflecting the fact that 33 percent of Ballarat was unemployed in the early nineties. Featuring myself and Ben on instruments, recorded on Tascam 8 track cassette recorder.

I have often wanted to do a vocals/orchestra mix of this fantastic song as the great score composed by George Martin is buried in the final mix. Here you can hear it in all its loopy brilliance on the 35th anniversary of John Lennon's passing.

The Exploding Mind were a mid 1960s Ballarat (Victoria, Australia) based beat combo. They won a local battle of the bands competition, with the prize being the chance to record this single for the GO! label. I believe they were also featured on the GO! show, a beat program for teens which aired in 65/66 in the Melbourne area. This is most likely the only rock-based 60s single released by a Ballarat band, and thus is the earliest Ballarat rock officially released on vinyl single.

"The Samplers" were a mash-up group that I produced around 2003 or so. They teamed up with the infamous "DJ Plunder" for a few special tracks and then immediately split up.

Here is one track I managed to save from the sessions, a mash-up of MJ's "Bad" with Malcolm McClaren's "Buffalo Girls". Both artists are now dead.

In this song I tried to build up a track using one string-based loop as the main melodic inspiration. Even though it has a hip hop beat, it's meant to be a kind of dreamy/retro/introspective thing, inspired by Nujabes.
