Smart Objects, led by local Nashville fixture Benjamin A. Harper, has evolved into one of Nashville’s most unique and compelling new bands. The band’s brand of angular, thinking man’s rock is intelligent but accessible, expanding the horizons of pop sensibility as handed down by classic forebears like David Bowie, Talking Heads, and XTC. These primordial influences are filtered through a modern inventiveness to create sonically interesting compositions that would fall easily into the catalogs of peers like Beck or Spoon.
