Hanumantana's Ankur Saxena dedicates this song to the beautiful people who have contributed to his fundraising campaign. Ankur's parents were paying for most of his schooling until this June when a catastrophic flood destroyed his parents’ home, business and health in India's State of Uttarakhand. To date they have invested around $80k in his education at MSU Bozeman. Foreign students like Ankur are not allowed to work off-campus, and in-state work-study students are given priority when hiring for on-campus jobs. Ankur is a 23 year old international undergraduate student at Montana State University-Bozeman, a junior with a good academic standing (3.5 G.P.A Spring 2013), majoring in Modern Languages and Literatures with a German studies option. The Office of International Programs office is unable to show any leniency. They report that he must pay $5000 by August 26th or his I-20 document will be terminated. This means that he will be deported back to India, unable to return to the U.S. or complete his university degree. He is unable to obtain financial assistance from India because he does not currently reside in India. So he finds himself bound up in the red tape of international bureaucracy. Ankur has made so many cultural contributions to the Bozeman community, has studied diligently, freely shared the music and dance of India here in Bozeman. We have all become great friends through our ensemble Hanumantana and there are so many in this community that don’t want to see him go. We have made many contributions to his campaign and invite you to contribute any amount you wish to help him remain to complete his degree at MSU-Bozeman:

Whatever Works

The preferred method of gaining altitude is grabbing an elevator in the form of what we call a thermal.  There are other elevators too, air that is going up because of deflection by surface features or the meeting of two air masses of differing temperature.  Guitar by Jon McCracken.  Thermals though are the most wide spread and consistently available.  They also go higher than the other available elevators.  A soaring raptor like an eagle, hawk or falcon spends his day searching for food by riding thermals and gliding between them.  Bass by Winter Zero.  By doing this, he covers many square miles daily with very little effort expended, using his flight muscles sparingly to take off after a meal or to extend his glide to the next objective be it another thermal or his home roost.
