Wolfpack are a staple of the Smash the House roster, with huge releases coming in the form of ‘Tear Me Apart’ and ‘Elev8’ with Fatman Scoop and Diego Miranda last year, and they return to the label with their latest offering, ‘Moving Mountains’ with the vocal talent of Jonathan Mendelsohn, who himself has worked with some of the biggest names in dance music, including Laidback Luke and Blasterjaxx. 

The track begins with a driving kick drum alongside a layered vocal from Mendelsohn, which revert to a vocal stab that builds towards the drop, which is a festival ready, anthemic affair. The combination perfectly straddles the fine line between radio hit and festival crowd pleaser, as the lead pumps through.

Wasting no time in following up their recent smash collaborations ‘Clap Your Hands’ with W&W and Fedde Le Grand and ‘Raver Dome’ as 3 Are Legend alongside Steve Aoki, Justin Prime & Sandro Silva, the latest team up sees the Belgian brothers unite with psytrance heavyweights Vini Vici for ‘Get In Trouble (So What)’. The coming together of these musical juggernauts is as heavy as you’d expecting, combining both duos extensive knowledge in music production and ear for a hit to great effect, utilising a standout sample that elevates the track skywards.

A fighting chant builds towards the fast paced drop and sets the tone from the start, as clever use of LFO on a synth cranks up towards the first breakdown, which introduces the iconic vocal that is sure to whip fans into a frenzy. This is carried into the main break, where the familiar guitar lead joins the vocals before switching up to accommodate a high pitched lead that continues into the beat.

Pretty Pink has been painting from a new palette with her fun injections into modern dance music, releasing on the likes of Kontor and Found Frequencies, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike now welcome her dose of fresh talent to Smash Deep, flipping the testament of Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll to ‘Sex Drugs Crowd Control’.

Undoubtedly influenced by the label heads now-legendary ‘Crowd Control’ that translates to rowdy live shows in encouraging fans to dance side to side to a command of shaking it to the left and right, Pretty Pink’s interpretation takes a dubstep, wiggling beat that fizzed beneath a 4/4 beat before the mantras of the title are repeated in a hypnotic, robotic fashion. Mutating into an underground tech-influenced roller that will have faces screwed up in appreciation to its deep synths and elevated layers, reflective of Pretty Pink’s raw talent, she’s painting the town in her own unique production style for a breath of fresh air that sounds right at home on Smash Deep.

That impressive run continues with ‘Sound The Alarm’, as Wolfpack, Jimmy Clash and Richie Loop join forces to provide a roaring anthem that is set to raise spirits and ignite parties across the globe when it drops.

Heavy use of reverb on a single synth note fills the space in the track from the beginning, while Richie Loops reggaetón vocal is the key element that comes to the fore in the first breakdown. The vocal is kept interesting by clever use of a vooder, before the vocal repeats with increasing intensity, building the pressure before the drop, which sees a ripping lead float over a deep, punchy kick drum.
