Belgium House wizard Ricky Razu revives the genre with a heartfelt and soulful note that seems to be make up for everything that has gone missing over the past year(s). The Belgium based artist's first appearance goes back to the year 2018, when Ricky released his Cycle EP  on Houseum Records, Cycles. Last year the House-head returned to the label with a split EP called Two of a Kind with Marc Brauner with each delivering three tracks each. After a contribution to Darker Than Wax's Bodyclock Vol. 1 Razu has just released a four tracker on French label Happiness Therapy, which goes by the name of Power of Love and pushes the artist's House sound to a next if not to say to another level. With the beforementioned release Ricky simply connects the dots between influences from House music's golden era, namely the 90s, and today's more club-oriented House music. So utlimately Ricky's approach focuses on elements from House music's early stages and puts them into a contemporary context. Consequently you hear a lot of instruments, e.g. organs, pianos or even a guitar on the one side and have those partly enriched with vocals and genre-typical basslines. For his art:cast Ricky takes the listener through and on this House music journey, with little influences from several sub-genres, which all cover a rather deep vibe and vary between clear-blue-sky and in-the-club moments.

Simple Series #023 - Marina Lovic

Melbourne-based DJ and producer @binofski has always had a long-standing obsession with hard house grooves and underground production aesthetics. His sound traces traits of Detroit, Chicago and British house with flecks of club 4x4 grooves and '90s Acid. His monthly UNCUT RHYTHM DJ sets are a brew of groovy jackin' house and underground techno, as well as bumpy garage and snippy loaf.

In the studio, BINOFSKI takes his own unique approach that connects the dots to his sound as a DJ. Groove-oriented and hardware-dependent, you can expect a sound heavily based on analog synths and drum machines, deep, groovy and with a distinct '90s house flavor. His "less is more" approach is the driving factor that helps him stay focused on what's really the most important element of his music: Groove.

Label Showcase | Chikyu-u Records with Romain

In 2016, talented artist Paul Cut released his first vinyl with Popcorn Records: the Basement Jam EP. This album foresaw the rise of the young producer, who has since piled up project on top of project, and record on top of record.

One of the driving forces behind the D.KO label, and a (literal) key player of the Secret Value Orchestra band, Paul has also thrived on collaborations. Whether with Chez Damier, Jef K, Flabaire… They all fall under the spell of the young pianist’s skill, who has become in just a few years one of the leading figures of French house. 

In 2019, Paul joined house legend Larry Heard for his world tour, and multiplied appearances at famed festivals such as Glastonbury, Dimensions, DGTL or Printworks.

In 2020 Popcorn Records is turning 10. And to mark the occasion, Paul is coming back to his beloved label to unveil his first album.
