Tig & Rapunzel - BAD Festival - June 2022

For this single Cobblestone Jazz joined by friend, bandmate and hypnotic discotheque collagist The Mole.
Hip Waders comes from one of the group’s long studio sessions, and this gem of a jam was laid to tape after a couple days of playing. Usually the group likes to set the studio up first (tuning the room, picking their instruments and setting up the patch bay), before exploring and recording musical ideas over the rest of the week. Although bouncing along at 120bpm, Hip Waders still strides into deep waters, courtesy of jazzy, tremolo chords that ripple across its skittish electronic groove, which constantly unfolds across a full 13 minutes.

Thorgerdur Johanna has been quietly making her mark on the DJ circuit in Oslo after moving here from Reykjavik six years ago. Together with her DJ partner (and husband) A:G, she’ established a podcast series, event series and now label through the Blossy franchise, as well as honing her relatively fresh skills as a DJ. Comparatively new to the scene and the music, Thorgerdur Johanna has found a niche in her selections that favour a minimalist sonic aesthetic, a melodic temperament and rhythmically varied approach.

She makes her debut on the Jaeger mix series with scattering 808s, rubbernecking basslines and luxuriant pads taking their time through the progressive mix.  Thorgerdur relies on tracks that bounce between funky basslines and wispy atmospheres that veer little from the distinctive sound she perpetuates on this mix. Elements of Electro, Techno and House conspire around a very specific sonic atmosphere through this mix with Johanne drifting between  without missing a beat.

She is no stranger to Jaeger, whether playing on her own or alongside A:G and have made regular appearances in our booth, often in the good company of Det Gode Selskab. This edition of the Jaeger Mix finds her on a solo jaunt as we get the opportunity to formally introduce Jaeger’s audiences through some questions.

Here you can lessen to my set recorded yesterday night at Hotel Radio Paris, I've try to speak a bit but apparently I still need to learn how to lower the music down when I do so 🎙also I prepare a 100% vinyl set and played with turntables audiotecnica so it was a bit awkward as it was the first time and I felt there are quiet different on the touch from the technics I always play with, but got use to it by the end. I feel there is a lot's of things I want to improve when it comes to play at the radio, but really having a regular radio show is one of my dream, I feel it's the best way for me to communicate with music ... I hope you'll enjoy it. Special dédicace to Steve C. Huerta played your last track on Small Hours (around 00:34mn), to D'julz for giving me a special edit of the last track I played in my set, and finally to Jeremy Gauvman et Thomas Chauveaux from Beau Mot Plage that gave me a good tip with the after 6 a.m track!

First hour I'm mixing a selection of classic italien sunny house vibe, some 90s uk raping to, on the second hour my friend Barousse is playing 1 hour of dark electro, break beat and "lutzienne" techno, that's why I choose to call this mix of two hours "le jour et la nuit" :)
