C.o.N-Vers was performing too, and did this has his last track, receiving multiple rewinds. I reached out afterwards to say how sick it was, and he asked if I wanted to remix the vocals... "Maxtape II" is the long awaited powerhouse sequel to Max I Million´s 2010 release "The Maxtape". It boasts exclusive material, aswell a selection of the Swedish producers prime material released over the past decade and features Hip Hop legends such as C.L. Smooth, Chuck D, Edo G, Bishop Lamont and J-Ro to name a few. 

The major difference is this composition is elegantly put together as a seamless DJ mix by the duo Create & Devastate - and released physically on cassette in association with Insert Tapes!

The story begins 10 years ago when DJ Devastate (R.I.P) founded Counterweight Records, in close collaboration with Max. Enthusiastically, the two started working on the project, which abruptly came to an end with Dev´s tragic passing in 2018. In the years following, Max I Million has carried the torch, putting out work continuously to honor the label´s original vision and keeping the legacy alive. 

When contemplating how to materialize "Maxtape II", Max finally got the idea to bring Dev´s old partner DJ Create on board. He picked up where DJ Devastate left off and the rest is soon-to-be history!

With exquisite cover art design by Jonas Hilmersson, one of the originators of Counterweight Records, this mixtape embodies the expression "Coming full circle". Let the tape roll!

Originally from Chicago, Aztek relocated to Utah, planting him firmly in an expanding underground music scene, and the source inspiration for Summit's contents. On his way home from working in Park City, Utah, Aztek would drive down the mountain pass and would experience an inversion on the horizon, seeing the buildup of pollution sit over the mountain. The haze that he continued to see night after night became a symbol and inspiration for what he wrote in Summit. This time in Aztek's life also bred a desire to find the peaks within, pushing him to define an album that coalesces with the Courteous Family identity and his unique sense of artistry. 

Summit is a beautiful blend between the primal and the abstract, touching on many landscapes within the electronic world. Experimentation and cross-genre blends call to the Courteous Family ethos, extracting elements from tribal, bass, electronic, trap, and zouk. The depth to the rhythms and sound designs creates a valley of emotion, moving in organized frameworks that morph through each section. It's engaging and technically designed electronic music that calls on as much experimentation as it does structural clarity.
