The first song from my Individual Project EP, Water Songs. Originally recorded by Ewan Maccoll in 1960 for his 'Singing the Fishing' Radio Ballad. Featuring Dan Robinson on Acoustic Guitar.

Telling the tale of the first crossers of the Atlantic to America, 'Across the Western Ocean' was the forerunner to the song 'Leave Her Johnny Leave Her' and shares the same tune. Featuring Pete Coe on Appalachian Dulcimer.

Originally written and recorded as part of Louden Wainwright's album Attempted Moustache, I recorded this song to inject a little lightheartedness into my EP. Feat. Dan Robinson (Acoustic and Electric guitar)

03. Sean Nestor - The Swimming Song (Louden Wainwright III)

Written for his 1954 play 'The Quare Fellow', Brendan Behan's 'The Auld Triangle' tell of the life of an inmate at Dublin's Mountjoy Prison.

04. Sean Nestor - The Auld Triangle (Brendan Behan)

One of the most well known American folk songs, this song has been recorded by the likes of Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, Arlo Guthrie and Van Morrison, my version of this song combines the original and a little known version called 'This World of Misery'. 

05. Sean Nestor - Oh Shanendoah

Recorded by artists such as The Dubliners, The Pogues and The Clancy Brothers, this song tells of an Irish sailors lament at leaving his love, but not the city of Liverpool. Featuring Pete Coe on Melodeon, and Dan Robinson on acoustic guitar. 

06. Sean Nestor - Leaving Of Liverpool

Written in 1959, when Tawney was still an officer in the Royal Navy, 'The Grey Funnel Line' was a euphemism for the Navy, equating the colour of its funnels with those of company emblems found on commercial shipping lines (e.g. the Blue Funnel Line or the Black Ball Line). The song tells of the longing that all sailors eventually feel; a longing for shore and family.
