A new Mix Series is launched. Psychedelic and Intelligence music in Techno format, with artists selected as the final concept.

For the first installment, we warmly welcome Marco Shuttle, who inspired us to start this series. The word "Cinematic" is absolutely essential to Marco Shuttle's play style. 3 hours live recording from Agaitida "Year End Party" held in Okinawa in December 2022 is now published as Mix Series 01. The time has come to reflect on some of the standout performances from this year’s remarkable Mostra Festival. There were some program adjustments, and new stages were added compared to last year. We had more opportunities to enjoy the outdoors around and inside the Castell De Montjuï. Thursday at the Hangar provided a perfect opening, a special day for all of us who cherish ambient, experimental, and obscure music. The Pati stage at the Castell De Montjuïc was a brilliant addition and hit the mark perfectly.

But let's start from the end with the festival's closing set, the grand finale. The Mostra crew meticulously planned the lineup, giving the honor of closing this magical extended weekend to one of their residents - Timnah. Given the high caliber of talent at Mostra, ending the festival on a high note was no simple task. Yet, what we witnessed (and what you will hear in this recording) was a masterful set from a DJ who truly knows her craft.

Following an impressive performance by Rrose, Timnah took the stage with a flawlessly curated techno set. 

In this musical laboratory, Timnah was an alchemist, deftly mixing familiar elements with a slightly more energetic twist than usual. For the first 30 minutes, she kept the base simmering at a low “fire,” allowing the atmosphere to build gradually before adding multiple layers of hypnotic, high-energy elements that electrified the dancefloor. 
The result was an exhilarating and dynamic performance, making it one of the most memorable highlights of this year’s Mostra Festival.

Delayed with... Timnah @ Mostra 2024 [Delayed x Mostra]

We are honoured to share a deeply personal and beautiful ambient mix by Blind Observatory for Unrush. True to his signature style, this mix unfolds like an acoustic panorama - layered with cinematic textures, immersive sounds, and delicate facets of emotion. Each track flows effortlessly, as if hiking through a natural biotope of sound, moving between different atmospheres with a calm ease. This mix is dedicated to his beloved dog, Plüshka, who recently passed away:

"I compiled and recorded this set during the last weeks I had with my wonderful dog Plüshka. My true soulmate. It is a story of two tethered souls slowly untangling. About a connection getting grainy, then fuzzy and blurry before fading. A journal of our parting. It's a little tribute to my big love."

This heartfelt journey is an ode to love, loss, and the unbreakable bond between kindred spirits. We hope you enjoy the set and have a relaxed start to the week...

Founded by Laura BCR in 2014, On Board Music is a Rotterdam-based record label and booking, management, and events organization. “The mix was recorded in Melbourne a few days after my experience at Diega, a beautiful outdoor festival, or bush "doof" as Australians call them. The mix is essentially resuming a day in a doof. It starts with slow/chill sounds in the morning, moving towards groovy afternoon euphoria, and finally ending more techno oriented for evening vibes. I want to dedicate this work to the people I spent time with during the last two months I've been touring, in Australia and Asia!”

Severja is a multi-disciplinary artist, DJ and founder of the legendary Midgar records. Not only known for his exceptional label curation and genre-defying versatility behind the decks, he is also responsible for the incredible designs of Monument.

Her favorite concert, the year before the accident. The details, a little blurrier with each retelling. The t-shirt, a little thinner with each cycle through the machines. The memories, slowly transforming into lint.

Disquiet 0695 invited us to take a piece of our own music and put it through a metaphorical dryer. What would be cast off, and what would remain?

I decided to start with "Mise-en-scene", the piece that I made back in September for prompt #0665: a glitchy, minimalist homage to Achim Szepanski. The original track featured a Møffenzeef Mødular Stargazer drone synth performance over complex 5/4 rhythmic patterns voiced with drum machine samples. 

To put the piece through the dryer, I decided to underlay a more regular and machine-like rhythm (an 8-bar 4/4 percussion part) and make the song get thinner over time. The 4/4 under 5/4 made for some interesting polyrhythms. I thinned out the song by slowly converging the cutoff frequencies of low- and hi-pass filters applied to all of the original tracks. By the end, nothing is left but the 4/4 rhythm of the machine winding down.

We were greatly enchanted to listen to Claudio PRC and Ness’ new exclusive mix for SMOKE MACHINE; this unique recording was carefully mixed & edited to its essence aka “The Lost Tape”! We must say that this is an absolute gem shines out!

It contains a light yet calm rhythm throughout the whole mix, and was almost like leading the ears and mind to somewhere mysterious; or yet was following the vibe along a long corridor to a hidden wonderland?

Delicately crafted, warm, curious and engaging. Simply beautiful!
