Some time ago I asked Donato to compile the “Rome” edition of the 200th podcast for electronique.it.

His response to this challenge is a techno mix that I can best describe as an intense, intimate and evocative portrait of the reality that is Rome. While drawing on a wide range of source material and inspiration from the past, he constructs a deeply personal mix that is directed towards the future. It is, in a word, epic!

“For this mix I wanted to capture the icy freshness of January, a month filled with new energy, bright skies, and winter’s introspection. Inspired by a trip in the mountains: cold alpine air, glittering snow, and vast expanses of rock nestled amongst forests of pine trees. Steering in a slightly up-tempo but still deep'ish pace, This was a closing for the Catch 428 stage that took place on a Monday morning from 3-5:30 AM (right before sunrise). The stage was powered by Void Acoustics "Incubus Edition'- a truly powerful system.

Undoubtedly, catch 428 throughout the weekend was a special adventure that was shared together on the Thai countryside & will be an unforgettable sonic experience engraved in our memories. An extended thanks to Ouissam, Atsushi san, Aki san and the Catch 428 team.

In closing, as DVS1 recently quoted - 'The Soundsystem is the Headliner' :)

“Dozzy and Shuttle’s finale unfolded like twilight. A prolonged dusk caressed by an eerie drizzle. Shadows and whispers echoing with the surroundings. Synapses slowly reaching the ground, merging and becoming one with the underground rhizomatic networks. A memorable rendez-Nous within a fractal space. It felt like being at the core center of the matrix, enveloped by a warmth reminiscent of a maternal womb. Giulia Fournier-Mercadante (GiGi FM) is a multi-disciplinary artist, DJ, resident of NTS Radio, dancer and music producer. Boldly versatile, GiGi FM’s selections have charmed bodies on dancefloors all across the world, such as Berghain, Rural Japan, Draaimolen, Fabric, De School, Primavera, The Bunker New York, and Sustain Release. NTS Radio: GIGI FM PRESENTS VOICES FROM THE LAKE MARCH 2024

Repping an oft overlooked Swiss techno contingent comes the next guest in Bassiani’s podcast series. Basel born and raised Garçon is one of the most promising names to call the bucolic town on the shores of the Rhine his home. He got an early start, mixing from the age of 14 and booked a mere two years later, assiduously cobbling together influences in his early work and soon delivering performances city-wide. First those at Hinterhof (now closed) and then those at local staple Elysia. With musical collaborator Agonis he’s also fired up techno label Amenthia Recordings, an agar dish for like-minded Basel music makers. His own sonic experiments are a purely live affair, and that’s no bad thing. Garçon’s escapades, from Waking Life to Barcelona’s Parallel have honed his voice and made of him an adept hand when faced with the strenuous demands of modulating crowd energy. Nodding to a range of influences across the electronic map he harbours a superlative talent for finding niche sounds at the fringes of common scope. Enter Podcast 208: towering, no-bullshit sounds, an hour of ghostly, mechanical whispers and powerful basslines, earth-shaking and infinitesimally precise techno from this connoisseur selector.

Yuka [ Fullpanda / Pro-Tez ] Russia

Yuka is a female DJ now based in Moscow (where she has lived since 1998), but who began her career in distant Bratsk, Siberia. The town - a local industrial center - is probably more famous for what it dumps than what it makes; in the recent past it was listed as one of the thirty most polluted cities in the world. It wouldn't take much persuasion for someone to move on... Yuka's preparation for a shift to the capital's nightclubs was lengthy, however, since music had played an important role in her life since the age of 6. 
Over time, her passions moved in the direction of painting, sculpture, and design - activities she continues to this day. That initial school-day enthusiasm at the piano would eventually win out, though, and dictate her choice of higher education. Her musical training thus led to a degree from the Irkutsk Arts Institute, where she no doubt studied under her real name, Irina Solbutova. 
Now that she's fully ensconced in Moscow, her music appears regularly through the outlets of three labels: Fullpanda, Pro-Tez, and Electronica. That latter orgniation has also created a series of podcasts in her name for free downloading. The opening broadcast came with a small text that moves swiftly from imaginative fancy to absolute fantasy. In English it reads as follows: "All musicians can be compared to bird-catchers, especially those hunters who'd go looking for songbirds. Some of them would search for a particular type: a nightingale or a lark, perhaps. Others, conversely, would hunt nothing but exotic birds. Once they were caught, the birds would be kept in cages made from sheet music or boxes cut from concert programmes." 
This tendency towards the ornate and magical is a marked facet of her work. When it come to drinks, however, she's a little more straightforward.
