Next, turn on and up our latest mix presented by young Aussie, Thomas Jack.

Hailing from Bemboka, Australia is talented and emerging star Thomas Jack. At only 20 years old, Thomas’ future is shining as bright as the music he creates. His latest mixtape created especially for your Earmilk ears, will transport you to places both near and far. In a little over an hour, you can travel around the world and back again, through the sounds of Pleasurekraft, Hot Natured, Kolombo, Monkey Safari, Justin Martin, Eats Everything, Paul Kalbrennar and many more sounds from across the globe. We stumbled upon Thomas Jack, (real name Tom Johnston) only a few weeks ago, when one of our favorite bootleg artists, DJ AA, put Thomas’ unique track “The Final Speech” inside his own Earmilk mix. Needless to say, we were instantly hooked on his sunny and positive vibes, as were the rest of the fans who took note and brought him to the #1 spot on HypeM shortly thereafter. He even gained ground on hip-hop king Kendrick Lamar, surpassing him on the HypeM charts.

Much like the waters surrounding Tom's hometown, the mix ebbs and flows, sometimes unexpectedly but always beautifully. He incorporates fascinating voices with boogie down beats and somehow gracefully transitions them into eclectic sounds that would expect to hear in a small village in Southeast Asia. And just as you’re racking your brain for where you might have heard something like it, the whole vibe changes into something completely different from what you just had your ears tuned into. While he makes us feel like we've been listening to him for decades, the genius that is Thomas Jack is just getting started. We’re hoping this isn't a one-time excursion, but rather a glorious lifelong enterprise for Thomas. So go ahead, press play and feed your soul.

An expert curator of eloquent dancefloor grooves, the blossoming Washington DC-based DJ-producer @enamourmusic is quickly making a name for himself as a fantastic dancefloor enchanter. Through his relentless dedication to clubland, the 26-year-old has turned himself a staple of the electronic music scene in the nation's capital. A regular player at DC clubs like Echostage, Flash, Soundcheck and U Street Music Hall, Enamour has been called on multiple times to support major acts such as Eric Prydz, Above & Beyond, Giorgio Moroder and Hot Since 82 when they visit his city.

As the inventive up-and-comer continues to propel himself into the global dance music spotlight, Enamour has been selected as the newest member of our Magnified collective. He joins a whole host of forward-thinking producers, entrancing live performers and captivating DJs that Mixmag has awarded with a raft of support over the past year.

Deep, slow pulsing basslines carry the exotic cargo of sound; pretty and gritty instrumentation, the ululation and trill of womens' traditional vocal techniques, and the swoop of mens' choruses.  North African rhythms shuffle and sway beneath the cresting timbre of taught, bluesy guitars, purposeful sintirs and the cascade of Malian harps (ngonis). Hand-claps and qraqebs (double-ended metal "castanets") chatter  hypnotically around the deep, definitive low end which craft the ethos of this 60-minute journey across the desert cultures of Mali, North Western Sahara, Morocco and Algeria.

The Tuareg inhabit the Saharan regions of North Africa - Niger, Mali, Libya, Algeria and Burkina Faso. From Wikipedia: The origins and meanings of the name Tuareg have long been debated. It would appear that Twārəg is derived from the broken plural of Tārgi, a name whose former meaning was "inhabitant of Targa", the Tuareg name of the Libyan region commonly known as Fezzan. Targa in Berber means "(drainage) channel".[20] Another theory is that Tuareg is derived from Tuwariq, the plural of the Arabic exonym Tariqi.[10]

No one knows the true origin of the Tuareg, where they came from or when they arrived in the Sahara. Reputedly of Berber descent, the language of the Tuareg is Tamachek, with their own script known as Tifinagh, thought to have ancient Libyan roots. Their numbers are unclear, but estimates run between 300,000 and 1 million. The Tuareg were recorded by the Greek historian Herodotus in the 5th Century BC.
 
The most striking attribute of the Tuareg is the indigo veil, worn by the men but not the women, giving rise to the popular name the Blue Men of the Sahara, or Men of the Veil. Men begin wearing a veil at the age 25.
