Born in Sassari on the island of Sardinia, Eva Carboni is a singer, musician, writer, and fine artist . She studied at the prestigious Vocal Power Academy in Los Angeles, graduating in singing with renowned vocal coach Elisabeth Howard, who has also coached the likes of Sting and Lionel Richie.

Although blues music is Eva's first passion, she is a versatile singer who has  worked in a number of styles including Jazz, Rock, R&B, and Musical Theatre. Over the past few years she has performed with musician's  such as Buddy Guy, Mario Schilliro (Zucchero), Derek Wilson, Marco Mendoza, Sergio Caputo, Frank McComb, and Vic Martin (Gary Moore).

Eva is the co-founder and artistic director of the popular Birdland Jazz Club in Sardinia, where she regularly hosts live shows, seminars, and vocal master classes. In 2017 she was guest vocalist on the track 'River of Life', by Blues rock guitarist Mick Simpson, and featured on his album 'Black Rain', which received airplay from Paul Jones (BBC Radio 2). For the past year Eva has been in the recording  studio working with songwriter and producer Andy Littlewood on her debut solo album 'Italia Square'. The 14-track album is a cool mix of sultry jazzy blues, uplifting gospel, and attitude driven rock, and includes contributions by a host of top musician's including Mick Simpson, Giovanni Bruno, Andrius Linsdell, and Pete Nelson. A promotional tour is planned for late 2019, watch this space for details!

Iconic, innovative and internationally renowned force in avant-garde music The Art Ensemble of Chicago released their 50th anniversary celebratory album We Are On The Edge in April, and Erased Tapes is honoured to produce the vinyl edition of this exceptional body of work. Led by surviving founding members Roscoe Mitchell and drummer Famoudou Don Moye, these brand new recordings involve a staggering array of contemporary artists ranging from across the jazz, experimental and improvised music spheres; from the visionary poet and musician Moor Mother, trumpeters Fred Berry and Hugh Ragin, who have performed with Mitchell for over five and four decades, to bassist Jaribu Shahid, supreme cellist Tomeka Reid, celebrated flute virtuoso Nicole Mitchell and the extraordinary voice of Rodolfo Cordova-Lebron.

The vinyl edition, due for release on July 26, will be available as a double album featuring a meticulous studio session of the newly assembled group of musicians, combining re-recordings of works spanning the last 50 years, some never before recorded, as well as new compositions. The 4-LP special edition also includes their live set recorded at Edgefest, the annual experimental jazz and creative new music festival in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Having witnessed this exciting new formation around Roscoe and Don live at Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, Robert Raths was compelled to start a conversation with their US label Pi Recordings, based out of New York, and support this project in any way possible.

As he grew up in the L.A. area, Daniel was heavily influenced by the blues greats Albert KIng, B.B. King, and Albert Collins. As a kid, Daniel would hang outside clubs like the Golden Bear in Huntington Beach to hear these blues legends perform and wait for a glimpse of them through the curtains. After cutting his teeth in South Central L.A. blues clubs with “Mighty Mouth” Delmar Evans, who worked with the Johnny Otis Show, Castro backed other great artists from Otis’ band, including Pee Wee Crayton and Little Esther Phillips. He also recorded and toured with many other artists including legendary Small Faces singer-bassist Ronnie Lane.
