From within the mass of influenced Mother City Underground, the ever-aptly named Smugg Juggler rises again to impress the multitude with groovy bass lines and rattling-balls-to-the-wall vocals creating powerful, suggestive sounds for the twin-kicked riff fest! Never failing to bring the heavy, this band rolls up cool-cat smooth blue tones, thundering choruses and unique harmonies into rock songs as heavy as metal which sound like the blues.

The original band formed around 2003 by high-school friends heavily under the influence of post-rock grunge, Led Zeppelin and various emerging nu-metal outfits the path was laid – Make it loud, Make it clear. 
In 2008 after a string of performances combining electric guitars, drum kits and synthesizers with pounding psytrance beats the band’s attention shifted back to its roots and Dylan Chegwidden joined as the outfit’s first vocalist. A wicked full-length album was released in 2013 including stunning artwork from Mike Wolmarans at Tenebrae Studios. The band played numerous shows in and around Cape Town, travelled to Grahamstown festival for a few performances and were invited to join the bill for the Cape Town Rock Revival Tour. In 2015 Dylan moved overseas and the quest for a talented singer began. 
After a few shows with a couple of different singers the band split up. The guy’s simply weren’t all on the same page anymore, disagreements were rife and tastes had changed. 
Was this the end? Many of the bands followers weren’t happy about the prospect of no more Smugg Juggler. They had a cache of new material and so the remaining songwriters decided not to give up on the band which had built up an awesome fan base over the years. Their efforts were rewarded when Matthew Cox joined as drummer. Then front man Glenn Bradford moved down to Cape Town and contacted the band for an audition. The sound was huge!
Work on the second full-length album is well under way and the band has a few shows lined up to play this summer.
